Up a steep hill, buried in the overgrowth, is the ruined little church of St Mary's. Couldn't be more romantically ruined if it tried. Totally gorgeous. But beware - this is NOT suitable for children, the walls are likely to fall down VERY soon, and there is a large drop into the crypt as the floor has gone in that area. Lovely overgrown churchyard too.

Superb, amazing old church monastery, more or less 1000 years old when one was first established, amazing views from the top. Not to be missed travelling in that part of Wales. Of course the big attraction is the big abbey monastery of Tintern, but this St Mary's church was the prodromos (forerunner ) of the abbey. Can be found exactly opposite the abbey, up the hill/ footpath.(Ask the friendly people in the Tintern Abbey shop).

Really nice ruin. Certainly worth the climb up from Abbey car park. Saw 1 person in the hour I spent taking photos here so nice and chilled with cracking views over Tintern and the Abbey. Highly recommend a visit.

Perfect. Frost glazed ground. Must visit. Take the walk from the Abbey. Everything about this little church is still breathing. It's heart, tilled hearth.

My relative used to attend St. Mary's regularly, when she lived in The Cherry Tree pub with her Uncle and Aunt during WWII and she suggested we visit.Lovely views of Tintern.

Interesting ruined church with some unusual graves too.

A beautiful very unusual building with great history. Challenging to get to with next to no clear signage so be ready to cut through the bushes and get a few stings along the way

A truly historical place that I personally found more interesting than the Abbey. A little overgrown when we visited but as its a little further away from the tourist area, we were left to explore and enjoy the history. Made me think does anyone maintain the graveyard anymore. Well worth a visit ?
