Great pub again now that old bag has gone! Love what they?ve done to the beer garden. Still good food and beers. Best pub in the area by far!

A lovely local pub with great staff and reasonable prices. Would definitely revisit if I'm in the area again.

The Castle Inn Caldicot is a nice local pub. A little character, some nice food and pleasant service make for a good experience. Dog friendly in the bar area. Next time I visit the castle, I will pop in again.

Me and my dad went there to eat and got refused service after 25 minutes of patient waiting.
When we got here we were told to wait 10-15 minutes for a table which we were more than happy to do. After 15 minutes we checked and still nothing, so we waited further as we had been told they could sort a table. We finally got told a table was free and as we were about to be shown to it, we got told the kitchen was closed and could no longer eat there.
It was very disappointing and we were lucky we found the village bistro down the street so that we could have some food for the evening (of which was very nice with great service!) I?ve never been refused service to this same level and I can?t believe they were so willing to lose customers for last night and potentially tonight too if the food was good.
I would have much preferred to be told that it?s too busy and they can?t take our orders when we got there rather than wasting our time. There was nothing offered as a sorry, we were just turned away and had to find somewhere else to eat.

Great food and drinks, always a nice relaxed country pub atmosphere. The steak and peppercorn sauce is one of my favourites and excellent quality for the price paid. The menu, however, is very limited and could do with some new options. The Sunday lunches are very popular and tasty.

Service was quick and they were able to accommodate my order even though I hadn't booked, I was willing to sit outside.
The food was ok but it most definitely wasn't worth the mortgage you need to pay for it.

We popped in for lunch after spending a couple of hours at the Caldicot Castle nearby. Staff were friendly, and the pub is dog friendly on the left hand side. The staff even bought out water for our pooch and there was a comfy dog bed that our dog settled into for a snooze before the food arrived. Basic but tasty lunch menu. I opted for a fish finger baguette lwhich contained fish goujons rather than the normal fish fingers that you usually think off. It was accompanied with a side salad and we had some chips for us all to share. My partner had chicken and stuffing roll which he was very happy with. We did not have a booking but there was plenty of tables available although there was one table reserved. Usual pub drinks although they did not have elderflower presse that our driver asked for. Toilets were clean. We stretched our legs afterwards in the churchyard opposite.

Came in on Wednesday after a walking the dog, went to order a pint of lager and a cider and got ID?d. Great to see the staff taking precautions which I had no problem presenting my ID. At this time I was with my partner when the staff member asked if I, myself had another form of ID for the 2nd pint of cider. Rather than direct the question at my partner who could?ve presented her ID. I told the staff member the 2nd pint wasn?t for myself and that it was for my partner to which she replies ?is it really though? as if to say I was ordering 2 pints for myself or a complete stranger? utterly confused. My partner gave her ID which was taken followed by a very condescending comment of ?it?s my job at the end of the day?. Perfectly normal for staff to do their due diligence which i?ve no problem with but to question whether I was ordering 2 pints for 2 people was quite baffling then to make continued comments afterwards. Rude staff but was dog friendly with is a bonus
