We loved this place and looking forward to returning, the only thing that let it down a star was the food.

I watched the hotel on The Hotel Inspector, from decades ago. Honestly, seeing the difference in 2025, this historic hotel has come an enormous way and is doing swimmingly well today. I applaud the company, and those who work and have worked so hard to bring it there. Congratulations, on marrying the past and present so beautifully. A well deserved 3-stars, and I?ll be honest with you, outside of price-point, the hotel and its staff and community deserve to be awarded 4-stars as a hotel. <3 Good on you for keeping it at the lower price point - that is what makes it well-populated and successful. Putting the price too high would deter guests and raise standards to an unmanageable level, that they would inevitably disappoint (because it would be unreasonable for everyone), and so KEEP THOSE PRICES LOW ($150 base is good!) IT IS WORKING IN YOUR FAVOR.

We just had one night here as we travelled to west wales. The room was a reasonable size and very well appointed - the fixtures and fittings were very good brands and quality which tells you a lot about the place. The service was friendly and efficient and we had no trouble settling in. Parking was a little tight but the staff quickly helped us out and found us a safe spot on site for the night. We had dinner and breakfast - food was very good quality too with plenty of variety.
Overall it will be out ?go-to? place for travel in this direction and highly recommended

Went for Sunday brunch served until 11:30. We trecked across town to be there well before eleven. We were told they'd finished serving brunch. Don't hastle this hotel for food, you might wake the chef up.

We didn?t stay at the hotel but had a very nice lunch. Beautifully decorated with a luxury feel but affordable menu. Service was good and the food excellent ( Calves liver and fish n chips ) No wait at all

A lovely hotel just 2 mins from Brecon town. Our room 115 had 3 large windows overlooking the mountains, river and town. We had a four poster bed and bathroom with bath and shower over the bath. All looked recently renovated. We had an evening meal which was a little disappointing for the money. I had lamb which was £27 and to be honest there wasn't much on the plate. Breakfast was plentiful. A buffet style continental with pastries, toast, fruit and cereals. The full Welsh was great and tasty. Staff were all lovely. Rooms were clean.
We had a nice chat with the gardeners who were so proud of their gardens. Plenty of sitting areas outside and cosy rooms in the public areas. The views from the hotel were fabulous. Mountains, town and countryside, such a relaxing place to stay.

My wife and myself had Afternoon Tea here and have nothing but praise for a wonderful experience in this lovely hotel.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the food as excellent.
I would happily visit again.
Thanks to you all

The Castle holds many memories for our family and this was our first time back since the refurbishment.
We were hesitant that it would have become a regular bland version of hotel but thankfully it is still The Castle.
It is now far more comfortable and luxurious with the most amazing staff and chef.
We had a fantastic family event and happily recommend this very precious
Well done to the new owners for retaining the atmosphere of this wonderful old building

Beautiful hotel! Wonderful location. Staff very friendly and efficient. Our ensuite double room was 'compact' but very comfortable! Dinner on our second evening in the dining room was superb - do try the cod, it was divine!?
Only negative: parking outside the hotel not always easy as there are not many spaces. Great venue for a few days 'get-away' break!

I wanted to give a special shout out to Joseph in the hotel restaurant, who's services was on a Michelin star level. His care and attention was on another level. The food was amazing. The hotel room was immaculate and the Nespresso machine, in the room, was a lovely added bonus in the morning. I also had a good laugh at the yellow squeaky duck in the bathroom, it added a bit of fun to the room.
