Great community run hotel with lots of improvements being made. Staff are fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable and a pleasure to see. Food served was well made and tasty and location was perfect for our exploring.

This might be a community led Hotel bar but moving to the area they take your money but are clearly anti newcomers. One particular barmaid doesn't like me. Its personal, sadly I do not feel welcome and I do have some friends who do treat me with respect kindness and isn't that why we go to the pub?
An X barmaid myself all should feel welcome. The customers pay our wages.

quite possibly the worst meal I?ve ever had. the service in the bar was good but the function room for the food was awful. mould coming off the walls and the tables were filthy.
the food was inedible and so expensive for what it was. £15 for the burgers that were basically jaw breakers with a tiny bit of horrible cheese.
the garlic bread was like eating cardboard and the pasta was still crunchy. the meat with the pasta was black because it was so burnt.
the pie was shocking, the pastry lifted straight off the top and the meat was incredibly chewy. wouldn?t recommend even if starving.
much better driving up the road 10 minutes to the nearest town that has a kebab shop.

Had a lovely stay at Y Pengwern Hotel! The room was cozy, clean, and even came with extra heaters. The mountain views from the window were absolutely stunning?sunrise and sunset were unforgettable. Friendly staff and a peaceful atmosphere made it a perfect getaway.

Misleading adverts on Hotels.com and other websites. Advertise Bed and Breakfast but they do not provide breakfast and do not replenish tea/coffee/milk in the rooms. Stayed 3 nights and no room cleaning. Worse B&B that I've stayed in for a good long while. More of a contractors accommodation. Worse evening meal I've had, one was inedible. Appears to be run by the community who appear to like the bar, this does not excuse poor service for paying hotel guests! No other places in the village to eat, you have to drive 3-4 miles to find breakfast or evening meal.
They had my money once but never again.
Still misleading customers buy incorrectly advertising 'including breakfast'. writing this review to hopefully make others aware of this scam!

Nice hotel with friendly staff. Fantastic location in the middle of Snowdonia with trails nearby. Complimentary teas, coffees and biscuits included which was good. Walls are thin but is quiet at night amongst guests, there is also a bar downstairs.

Lovely night at the Pengwern felt like I was 18 again, great locals and staff where friendly and welcoming, make sure you pop in for a pint to support this community pub I know we will every time we visit the area.

Food and drinks: Small menu. Food tasty. Only visited for evening meals as I was staying elsewhere in the village, so I can't comment on the accommodation.

Located near to our Hotel (which were not doing evening meals) The choice of food was good along with a good selection of beers and spirits, (which we sampled) staff and locals very friendly. The food arrived reasonably quickly it was hot, plentiful and tasted really good.
