Lovely pub in North Wales. We stayed over Mothersday weekend and climbed Snowden. We ate in with three kids as we were celebrating a birthday as well. The menu was nice with good variation. Portions were plentiful, and the prices were what you would expect in Wales (on the higher side) £145 for 2x courses for 5 of us and 1 drink each.Food & drinks: Cocktails availabileReasonable soft drink optionsVegetarian and gluten-free options

Nice place for a pint and a coffee, though, if I'm paying £11 for a pint of cider, and a cappuccino would expect a spoon rather than a wooden stick to stir my coffee from a vending machine.

Extremely disappointed to have to leave a 1 star, I took my concerns up via email but sadly no response. Booked over the Xmas break two rooms meals every day so at a cost of £1500. Room 16 & 21 room 16 was dirty and a strong damp smell. Concerns were raised whilst staying but not helpful, no windows in the room to open so me and my son did not have a good rest, the only response from reception was I quote " that room has been earmarked for sometime to be renovated" so obviously it's been a know issue. Hope lessons are learnt (customer service) its key to being successful and continue it.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Friendly staff, comfortable room, easy parking behind or to the side of the hotel. Loads of space downstairs to sit and have a drink or a meal. They have bar meals and also a restaurant (where you can order restaurant or bar meals). Very dog friendly with water outside, dog snacks at the bar, and even an option when you pre-order your breakfast the night before, to say you are 'dining with your dog' and they will produce a sausage for your dog at breakfast! Wifi was very easy and reliable.

Two years ago we chose the Gwydyr as the venue for our wedding, which was held in October of this year. From the beginning, the hotel manager, James, went above and beyond to ensure that our day was the best it could be. We met numerous times and he was always happy to answer queries via email or over the phone, and was also able to give informed judgments and suggestions regarding potential vendors. His expertise and calm, confident, good-natured manner helped reassure us throughout the process. The Gwydyr has had significant renovations over the past few years since James took over ? it is clear that there have been significant investments made ? and the building is beautiful. The main Gwydyr suite, the hotel's restaurant, and the bar/snug areas are all excellently suited to weddings/large events, and the decor, furnishing and lighting are striking and create a very warm, comfortable atmosphere. The Gwydyr?s pricing is also very competitive with regards to other wedding venues in the area, and James has been very flexible, always responding enthusiastically to requests ? he helped make the day really unique and specific to us. We found the catering to be excellent too ? they responded positively to specific requests ? and the food, from canapes to the sit-down meal to the evening buffet, was of a very high quality. We did everything at the venue ? from the ceremony to the evening do ? and James helped coordinate everything, making use of the different rooms at different times to ensure a natural flow to the day. We booked out all the hotel's bedrooms for our wedding and had the building to ourselves, which was wonderful. It was lovely having everyone at breakfast the next morning, and people were full of compliments about the venue. All the staff were very polite, friendly and professional throughout the day, working very hard to keep everything on track. We had a truly fantastic time and can wholeheartedly recommend the Gwydyr hotel, both as a lovely place to stay in Betws and as a potential wedding venue.

Great location. Reception couldn?t have been more helpful.I asked at the bar to book a table for dinner and was told I didn?t have to then ; when we came down to dinner there were no tables, only a coffee table to eat at so was very upset. I tackled this with the same member of staff who told me that I could have booked a table, I just didn?t have to and there was no apology from him when I said I had asked to book a table!I informed receptionist and she could not have been more apologetic. There was a gift for the dog when we booked in/ lovely touch.Walkability: Right in main road for shops and a small walk to bus stop to Snowdon

Visited for a mid week evening meal with the family. We did not stay at the hotel, so this review is for food only. The bar and restaurant dining areas look very smart, having recently been renovated. There are two food menus, one for the bar and one for the restaurant, but food can be ordered from either or both wherever you sit. Not sure why.So we ordered 3 meals, the chili beef with rice, the cod and chips, and the steak n' ale pie with chips.Unfortunately, all were disappointing, certainly not up to the standard elsewhere in Betws-y-coed. Think motorway service station quality.

Staff friendly and very helpful. Food good but bar closed early due to out of season I presume and not so many customers. Had a problem with our room, but quickly sorted and moved. Dog friendly except for the restaurant which is fair, as not everyone likes dogs about. This is one reason we chose the
