A very busy Sunday lunch service. Roast beef and lamb was OK. Roast potatoes were hard and not nice.

Hated the place

I have been here a few times and food has always been good but this time I thought the staff was rude and service was absolutely disappointing even though we reserved a table

Needs a lot a big make over. A lick of paint isn't dealing with things. We had fresh meat (straight from ovens), which was delicious. Choice of veg lovely, but not very hot. Service was good and young lady was nice with polite chat too.

1) It was very busy, Your 50% promotion was obviously working
2) Our "waitress" was very helpful and pleasant although she didn't really know the vegetarian/vegan section of the menu (my partner is Vegetarian and enjoyed the Broccoli and Brie parcels which you have discontinued).
3) The queue for the carvery was moderately long but moved quickly. The beef had run out but was available if you were prepared to wait. I had gammon which was tasty. My partner had the Mushroom Pie, which was vegan, so quite bland. It is a shame that you don't do a vegetarian version with a creamy mushroom sauce.
4) the veg was running out and constantly being replaced, but even so, it wasn't especially hot. Maybe this is a safety thing to stop people burning their mouths, but my meal could best be described as "tepid".
5) there was very little "real" gravy and no vegetarian gravy, so there was a wait for that (longer for my partner who was told several times that it would be coming in a minute - it was actually just over 7 minutes).
6) Food was enjoyable and acceptable for what you would expect on a carvery, just a little cold. There was a good range of vegetables all of which were cooked well except the carrots which were quite bitter and undercooked. Parsnips were very nice.
7)Paying took a little longer than expected due to the fact that the pub was very busy.
8) The drinks dispenser was dispensing "soda water" unless you had Pepsi. Obviously the other concentrates had run out. This was mentioned to the bar staff, but wasn't changed before we left.
9) In conclusion, the meal was filling and enjoyable and at 50% discount very good value. There were just a few small issues which prevented it from being a "10".
Vegetarian options: Not JUST for carnivores. Although they no longer carry the wonderful broccoli and brie parcel, there are several vegetarian and vegan options.

Overcrowded space to get food. Vegetables should be in a separate location from the meat. Too many people in one small area waiting to get their food. Not enough staff, tables full of dirty plates etc and had to wait 10 min for someone to take the stuff away from the last person and wipe the table down. Veg was good but once got to meat it tasted awful. Can?t put my finger on it but tastes like what wee smells like. I was almost gagging. Carpet filthy and windows full of mold and looks like they r never been cleaned.

Food took a long time to be ready.
Most of my meal was cold.
Vegetarian options: Camembert & walnut Wellington
Parking: Seems more like Rhoose as a location than Barry
Kid-friendliness: OK

Went for all you can eat breakfast this morning. Plenty of choice and good to be able to help yourself. Only trouble was sausages and bacon over cooked, not crispy but sausages tough skinned and hard to cut and chew. The bacon was very hard, not crunchy, but hard and hash browns you had to have soaked in the beans ( very hard) to be able to eat them.
The eggs ( fried and scrambled) were lovely and freshly cooked. Beans and tomato hot and tasty.

Good value breakfast. Area where Tea Service area tacky. No Yorkshire Pudding as advertised. But good value for what it was.

First visit here in a very long time. All friendly staff, young lady serving us (think her name was Ava or Amy - apologies for not remembering!) was smiley, chatty with very good service. Carvery was fresh, hot and well stocked with friendly Chefs & most importantly- delicious.
Like so many places these days the restaurant itself was looking tired and along with the toilets - although relatively clean - very much in need of a refurbishment. But that doesn't detract from our visit and would certainly visit again. Many thanks.

The staff are miserable, the food was cold and just okay. The place itself is crubby and very dated, mould on the windows and paint chipping off the walls. Like stepping back in time
