Overall the stay was pleasant. Matt provided excellent service, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was good. The only reason I give 4* is the pressure of the shower was diabolical. Avoid room 7.

Great place, warm welcome, comfy beds, clean room, above a pub so perfect for a drink while playing darts and pool. Free WiFi. Breakfast included which was lovely as well and had a choice of items, chosen the day before with a choice of time.
Only issue was the creaky floorboards and hearing others walking around in other rooms and corridors.
Close to food places for evening food which could be brought back and eaten in the pub.

I had a massive room which for me and my two dogs, was amazing. I understand the hotel is undertaking renovations and so I would describe my room as tired, in need of a little TLC. Having said that, the bed was comfortable, plenty of tea and coffee and real mugs! Had a really good stay. Breakfast was fine and the bar prices very reasonable. Thank you

Great location, close to zip world which is what we went for. And staff were very friendly.
Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The room was dated to say the least and the layout didn't work at all - a lack of pug sockets available and only one bedside table for a double bed. Lots of tea/coffee but that's where the amenities ended.
The bathroom was where the real issues were - again, very dated. Black mold on the walls, ceiling, in the shower and actually on the shower head itself ?. Not only this, but the water wouldn't get above luke warm temperature and the water pressure was abysmal. Possibly the worst shower I've ever had - I felt cleaner before getting in.
We stayed on a Friday night, which, unbeknown to us with an early start in the morning, was karaoke night. Now, far be it for us to ruin anyone's fun, but it did not end until midnight, which seemed a little unfair to sleeping hotel guests and local residents. Looking at the events held there good luck to any hotel guests wishing to sleep on Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights as they all seem to have late night music in some form.
The breakfast was average at best, pre-ordered the night before, very limited offer and vegetarian choices. I opted for the croissant which I'm guessing was frozen and re heated as it was piping hot and soggy in the middle and still frozen at the ends.
All in all, unfortunately it was cheap and not very cheerful.

Best place in Bangor to have a nice pint and enjoy a quiz or play pool. All the bar tenders are lovely

The room itself was really spacious, well thought out and came with enough tea and coffee to support a small army. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because the water pressure or lack of in the shower.
Last night, I couldn't get any hot water at all and this morning, despite it being hot, the pressure was non-existent.
When working away, the shower is always the bit I look forward to most to clear the day away and set me up.
A lovely hotel and very much recommended.

Great hotel to sleep in and have breakfast.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and the bathroom was clean.
There?s nothing to complain about on the breakfast, they give you a complimentary hot English breakfast and a good selection of drinks.
It is also a pet friendly environment so it?s great if you have a pet.
I would highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting the area.

As a student in Upper Bangor, the Menai Hotel is easily one of the best pubs around. With cheap lager Monday to Thursday, the high quality pool tables, a great beer garden, and events most nights, it?s got everything you need for a good afternoon/night out. The atmosphere is always relaxed and friendly, and the staff make you feel welcome every time. A brilliant spot for students and locals alike.
