Booked a birthday lunch here for my wife some months back. Arrived today with our two teenage children to find that a wedding party of some 20-30 guests had taken over the whole restaurant. We were therefore the only 'non-wedding guests' - so were seated in a separate bar area, surrounded by empty tables and characterless decor. The young lady who greeted us - in a very abrupt way - turned out to be a bar-lady doubling as a waitress. The service was therefore equally abrupt - until a manager took over. To order drinks and to ask anyone to take an order we had to go to the bar. The men's loos were scruffy: dusty, old plastic orchids and no loo rolls. Overall: good food, but didn't outweigh a pretty poor experience.

The best meal we have had for a long time. Beautifully presented and very tasty. Service was perfect and staff very friendly. I would recommend this pub for a special occasion. ( the soap and hand lotion in the toilets was lovely too!)

I?m writing this review because of something odd- it is a very good place for dinner (albeit expensive) but when called for reservations we were specifically told ?smart casual- no jeans? which was more than fine by us- but when we arrived a bit dressed up we found several tables sat with jeans, more with ripped jeans, all with trainers on and a woman in a tube top half way down her boobs?.so what is with telling some to dress nicer than usual and allowing others to dress as if they?re going skateboarding? By the way, we tried local wine, so thin that it was not noticeable at all- we wanted to support local but this was a 15 pound wine that should not be on the list for 55 pounds!

Never met such an unfriendly barlady. Asked for a glass of water and had the door slammed in our face. Pub has a local reputation for being miserable and hating guests. The least community minded pub out there.

Bit to pricey for us, so luckily, Quickly got out of there before the doors opened.

Absolutely delicious Sunday lunch here. Pan fried salmon to start, followed by the roast beef. Lovely rural location next to Skenfrith Castle. Attentive service and an altogether lovely venue. The food is quite expensive, but this is the most delicious Sunday Roast I've had since I don't know when!

Met up with visiting friends from the Isle of Wright with discerning palate who enjoy good food served in good surroundings and this is exactly what?s on offer at The Bell in Skenfrith.
Totally enjoyed my very delicious pork tenderloin dish and my friends their Brill.The portions were absolutely right and the dishes were a feast for the eyes as well as our stomachs. Surroundings exuded elegance,luxury, charm comfort and was spacious. The staff were friendly, helpful, inviting, polite and courteous.service was prompt.
It would be an absolute treat to visit the bell again very soon and its such a lovely feeling we all shared.My compliments and thanks to the Chef and the team at the Bell for making it a perfect lunch date.

Spent a night here for my Wife's birthday. Beautiful location with a real sense of 'getting away'. The Bell has a lovely, welcoming vibe and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Evening meal was fantastic and I thought portion sizes were great with every dish being on point. Would definitely recommend and will visit again, whether that be for another stay or just to visit the restaurant. Cracking pint of Butty Bach there too!

Lovely place, found this via the Michelin app, under the ?on a budget ? section, we like this category, great food at a reasonable price and the food was really good with a nice selection of wines.Great service and our room was lovely. We definitely want to come back.
