Okay for essentials and some of the staff 1 in particular is an absolute delight. She's always friendly, smiling, helpful and polite.... the polar opposite of another who is quite rude, unpleasant, abrupt and always looks quite smug when something isn't working or unavailable, decides to stand and have conversations with people when you're waiting to be served after they have clearly already been served( people also have jobs to get to ). Just appalling service from start to finish with this individual and on many of occasions. Maybe needs some training or a new job if it makes you that bitter and horrid.

Very impressed with kindness of young lady on till on Friday, 11 Fpril, not only did she lift my basket onto counter for me, but then carried my bags to boot of car! So kind. Eyesight and common sense tests on prospective employees would be beneficial.
Being refused service this evening meant an hour detour to get what I needed.
I'm 36, old enough to be 18 twice! My facial hair is grey. My tattoos are old and faded. Driving licences need to be sent away to be renewed every 10 years. I got my bike licence 10 years ago so it's renewal time and had no ID on me.

I get Challenge 25, it makes sense. But I was 25 in 2010! That was 11 years ago!
Its been 2 Decades since I was too young to buy beer. I literally can't understand how this staff member wasn't absolutely taking the mickey out of me by not serving me.
And it was for Red Stripe amongst single cream, juice and frozen quorn, not the sort of shopping list the typical under age drinker goes for.
Normally it wouldn't be that big a deal but the wife wanted red stripe specifically and Tesco Whickham didn't have it, Co op sunniside didn't have it, asda were out. I ended up at team valley sainsbury's!
Some jobsworth IDing a clearly middle aged man has absolutely wasted the relaxing time of my evening tonight (the time after the kids have gone to sleep).
Next time I'll go directly to Sainsbury's, despite me living 2 mins from Co op.
Very disappointed in the lack of common sense here.

helpful friendly staff. Really good fruit and veg . Excellent selection in stock. Plus fresh baked bread.
