The breakfast was absolutely freezing cold. We brought this to the attention of the staff, who temperature checked it and said it was fine. It wasn?t it, I?ve had hotter ice cream. No offer of a refund or discount. Toilets were absolutely scruffy, we would never visit here again! Steer clear.

Terrible Sunday lunch mashed potato was lumpy had chunks of raw potato with black bits in could taste that it wasn't cooked. Turnip was also lumpy other veg had no taste the meat was the only thing that was just okay. £31 for two disgusting dinners and a small coke and a soda water a total waste of money so will certainly not be going back again.

I would rate it 0 if I could. Terrible staff, who were rude and bad mannered. Not the place it used to be, too focused on selling cheap meat and vegetables that belong in the bin.

Lovely carvery just what we needed after all the Christmas party leftovers were goneThe food was up to it's usual good standardThe staff allowance friendly even after a hectic Christmas period they all were smiling and happyThe atmosphere was quite quiet as it was between Christmas and New yearAs we like Toby carvery we were not disappointed and felt right at homeMost definitely recommend this Toby's if you are in this areaAll ways clean and tidy but some of the decorations need a bit of love and attentionVegetarian options: Not a vegetarian so don't look at that part of the menu but it does look like it has a fue things onDietary restrictions: Ask when you go in and also when you are ready to order you are asked again if you have any allergiesWheelchair accessibility: Yes it has disabled parking and wheelchair friendly access even for the carvery the space is wide enough and staff offer to come with you too hold your plate if you want

Upon arrival got a warm welcome for Sunday lunch by waitress only to see a very young man preparing drinks to sneeze over the drinks that he was ready to serve wiping his mouth with his hand. Shown to our table with no instructions of do we help ourselves - pre pay a bit confusing however I was asked if we wanted drinks to which a polite decline was offered. The beef was fatty and cauliflower cheese was under cooked when asked if all was ok this was pointed out with no action taken. For £13:50 pp no value for money.

Terrible night, place was empty, no atmosphere. Staff were moaning about shift patterns, not welcoming in the slightest, looking at watches as wanted to leave to go home. One staff member used bad language. Hospitality at it's worst. Won't be back. Toilets manky.

Have booked the Christmas breakfast with Santa for many years now. Last year there was a marked downturn in the quality of the food, but decided to book this year hoping it was a one off due to having a late breakfast.Sorry to say, same issues at 08.45 food was to say the least dried out and not very nice. BANG AVERAGE in my view...all 8 in our group said the same.We decided afterwards that we will go somewhere else next year.Just a point re staff, very rude to my daughter who asked for black pudding as tray was empty only to be curtly told, it will come when its ready...ten minutes passed and a new tray was put out. Really poor as rest of food on the plate was getting cold.

Perfect place for a Sunday lunch through the week. Very reasonable and always accommodating with a table when just turning up. Love the roast dinners here especially the cauliflower cheese.

One of the better toby carveries in sunderland. Nice cosy atmosphere, nice staff and carvery is mostly always nice with just the odd time the gravy is to thin , condiment sauces watered down (must be if they are running out) or dry macaroni cheese.

Food, and service was excellent! The only bad point was the door coming into the restaurant, the"arm" on the top of the door that shuts the door slowly must have been broken and every time someone came in, which was quite a lot, the door was slamming and it was really loud. Maybe either fix the arm or put rubber lining inside to door to lessen the noise of the door slamming.Parking: Great that parking was free for diners but need to pay if not dining

Absolute nightmare again... this is the 4th time I've ordered lunch to take home and the 4th time the order was wrong with items missing or even meals missing! This place has gone downhill fast since the Toby chain took over the Britannia... not enough staff, food terrible (eg. rock hard cauliflower) and a lack of organisation.I'm now going to the Grey Hen. The Toby management should visit there and see and taste how it's done .

Great food and service from here. Brandon was an excellent waiter and made the evening better for us. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.

Visited Toby Carvery Yesterday for Sunday Lunch with the Hubby. We booked a table inadvance incase it was busy. It was very busy but we got our table. The carvery was lovely. Beef, Turkey, Pork & Gammon to choose from & assortment of Vegetables from Carrots & Cauliflower to Sprouts, red cabbage & peas. Along with roasties , mash & Giant Yorkshire Puddings. Total cost with two refillable drinks was £34. Delicious meals, will definitely go back
