The room was clean. Had everything in it (apart from decent air conditioning) / hairdryer, iron board , kettle. Staff helpful. Breakfast was ok. Only grumble was the sausages were disgusting. Cumberland - which are always dried out and taste revolting. Nothing wrong with a normal greasy pork link.

I would like to thank the manager Lucy Stamper for her understanding also Michael who was a credit to your company. A problem solved. So refreshing to encounter such incredibly pleasent staff only wish they had a car park.

Great location just 5 minutes from the station and a short walk from the centre. Room was clean and comfortable for my two night stay and all staff I encountered were friendly enough. Only let down was the breakfast selection which was underwhelming but less chaotic than other Holiday Inn express hotels I've stayed at lately.

Very warm welcome by the reception staff, Derek and Krystal. Given all the relevant information even about local restaurants. Nice room with very nice shower room. There?s a bar beside reception. Breakfast has everything needed, fruit juice, cereal, full English, toast, pastries and cakes.

I am an IHG Rewards Gold Member, at check in they gave me a note from the staff, signed Ryan, welcoming me and making themselves available for anything I needed I was also informed that as a Gold member I was entitled to late check out until 2 pm. The next day at 10:30 am I informed the reception that I would enjoy the late check out until 12:30 pm, the lady at the reception, in a very rude way , denied late checkout, even after I invoked the goldmember status, said he did not grant late checkout, and this without checking whether he had availability or needed the room or not. Amazing. This had never happened to me in an IHG Hotel, in dozens of IHD Hotels I've been to on 3 continents.

This was our 2nd visit here. The family room was pretty tiny, when the bed sofa was made up there really wasn't any room to move but it served the purpose for our city break. Breakfast is included in the price and had a good selection which meant everyone was able to fill up for the day. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location, 5 mins walk to train station or city centre.

Stayed here for one night for work, ideally located to where I needed to be and a short walk from the train station. The staff where welcoming and friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The only disappointing aspect of the stay was the breakfast, this was a very underwhelming experience with limited options. I was surprised to see no hash browns, no mushrooms, no tomatoes and no choice of eggs other than scrambled. Whilst I am not a vegetarian I prefer veggie breakfasts and there were limited veggie cooked breakfast options.

Brilliant stay. Staff were very efficient and friendly. Chap on reception asked if we were visiting the university the next day, and when we said yes, he produced a map not only of the university highlighted in the city but a map of the campus and a numbered sheet of buildings at the university. The staff had gone above and beyond without even being asked. Our room was very clean and quiet. My teenage daughter was delighted with her double sofa bed. Our main bed was a bit firm but one night was ok on my back! Bathroom large enough for three people. Shower powerful and decent Dove products. Hotel ideally situated for a stroll into Newcastle to the shops and pubs. Uber up to the university the next day was only £6. Breakfast gluten free choices apart from beans, eggs and bacon were soya sausages and GF Genius bread. We forgot to ask for any cereal. Yogurt, fruit available too. Coffee machine could have been a bit better or option of a filter coffee jug but I'm a fussy coffee drinker and stuck with espresso which was more like a strong Americano. Staff couldn't do enough to help and were constantly clearing and keeping everything tidy. On checking out we left our bags until the afternoon and that was no problem with reception staff. We left our car at the New Times Square car park which was £14 for 24 hours rather than £20 at the Grainer car park next door to the holiday Inn. We didn't mind the 10 minute walk but if we'd have had heavier luggage, we would have used the Grainger. Overall a really lovely stay. Staff exceptional and a very well situated hotel in a quiet area. We will definitely stay again

I?ve seen, and parked next to, this hotel for many years but haven't stayed in it until now, preferring their big brother the Crowne Plaza near the station. When I have an early train to catch from Newcastle, I always find it easier to stay overnight in the city centre the night before to make things easy and i have to say, my experience in the Holiday Inn Express has ensured that I have another very good option to choose from. As I approached the hotel, there was a group of Burton-clad work colleagues, obviously checking-in to what must have been a week working in Newcastle. Their priorities were the hotel bar, but mine were to check in and see my room. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, and I was then given a good room - right at the end of the corridor with a window view looking south down St James? Boulevard. I would place the room at a level above Travelodge, Ibis etc, and maybe on a par with Premier Inn. It had everything I needed for a short stay of one night. After unpacking I went down to the hotel bar which had gone from being populated with confident middle managers in cheap business attire drinking Stella, to being completely empty, so I was able to enjoy a couple of drinks in peace, sitting next to the window people watching the residents going in and out of the neighbouring flats. The area I was sitting in was obviously the place where breakfast would be served the next morning, and that brings me to one of the key benefits of staying here - the free breakfast. Overall, I can see why this hotel must appear in a lot of corporate travel booking facilities and as well as that, it?s a good option for travellers and families who want a clean, fuss free and affordable hotel in the city centre. The free breakfast provides a great bonus too.

What a great stay at this hotel. Excellent location for our short city break. The room was clean and comfortable. We had one little problem that was attended to quickly without fuss. The staff at this Hotel are great. Friendly and professional! Sorry I can?t remember their names but they were really helpful. Breakfast was nice. Only thing I would say was hot food could have been kept hotter. Bed and pillows were so comfortable. Well done Holiday Inn Express Newcastle City Centre!

A handy HIE just a 5 minute walk from Newcastle station. Staff were very nice and breakfast was the usual HIE fayre. One of those new hotels where the widows dont open so reliant on air con, which I dont like much. Room was spotless.
