We have stayed here several times previously as we visit family close by. It was always an 'ok' hotel, a bed and shower then we were mostly out and about so it's never been an issue. However this trip is a very different story. We paid c£100 for 2 nights so I guess you get what you pay for!!We arrived late at 9pm, the staff are, as before, welcoming and efficient. When we reached our room we were very tired but not as tired as the room itself. It's as if it's deteriorated faster than the now empty Brewers Fayre pub next door, which still doesn't have a buyer. The hotel is apparently going through a renovation according to the notices in the lifts but the only sign so far is lots of banging at 815am from the floor below. Everything else looks and smells like a dirty 1 star hostel. The room is very smelly and I'm not sure if someone (or many people) before us have been smoking in the room, or if it's the carpets, curtains or beds that smell. There are only a few sockets that can be used/accessed, only on one wide of the room. The bathroom is large but the shower is very very old and is like a tap rather than a shower head. The bed itself is 2 single beds, but one of them leans to one side and is the most uncomfortable bed I've slept on. And every time I moved or adjusted the pillows, it squeaked loudly. As we went to sleep last night, we confirmed to each other that we wouldn't stay here again. We checked out of another Premier Inn in Glasgow Hamilton yesterday and checked into this one on the same day. The difference between comfort, decor, cleanliness and standards are beyond comprehension. Repairs have been done but it is noticeable, some areas of the carpet are dusty/dirty, some light switches have been removed on one side of the bed, and the mould around the window with the hole in the smelly crinkled curtains says it all! This is not a Premier Inn standard hotel, these are not beds for a 'good night's sleep', this is no longer an 'ok' hotel and needs to be sold, knocked down or fully closed for a full renovation before anyone else stays here again. We will not be coming back and will find another hotel to stay at when visiting family, and will be advising our other family to do the same.Note: as I write this, loud drilling has commenced at 9.03am, so we will now be leaving the hotel to find somewhere for my husband to work remotely for the day!Rooms: You won't get a good night's sleep and the drilling/banging noises will wake you up from 815am onwards. The rooms don't feel clean and are very smelly. Not recommended for children!Food & drinks: Nothing available, even the vending machine that was previously available has been removed.Noteworthy details: Avoid staying here, book somewhere else!

Stayed over for work so location was great. Lacking a pub next door like most premier inns but there are fast food places a 5 mins drive away and also a Tesco which is open late. Room was a standard premier inn room, nice comfy bed.Noteworthy details: No pub restaurant but places nearby to eat and a Starbucks over the road if you want breakfast.

Not much to do around the hotel and the pub next door is closed.

I like Premier Inn, but sadly, the South Shields hasn't kept up with the times. Specifically, the electrics in the room are random assortment of switches and no labels. Half the lights in my room didn't work! The TV in my room was small. It looked lost in a large room. From what I recall, there was no on-site breakfast or restaurant, so I drove to Tesco to buy tea and breakfast. The staff were lovely, it's just the building that's tired and in need of some attention.I slept well.

Tired but adequate. Staff friendly. Restaurant has closed so we used a Starbucks opposite for breakfast and Man v Food a 15 minutes walk away for evening meal. Unusual for a Premier Inn to look so ready for a refurbishment.

Stayed here in November 2023. The room was on the ground floor, it was clean, had a really comfy bed, it was very quiet and couldnt fault it. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Tea and coffee provided in the room and could easily obtain extra from reception atea. The only draw back was the pub restaurant next door has closed so I had to venture out further for meals but could also order a takeaway to eat in the room. Overall though a pleasant stay here.Walkability: Need a car or transport to get about here.

Our stay at Premier Inn South Shields Port Of Tyne was marred by an incredibly disruptive experience from room 56.The incessant noise from neighboring room 56, caused by an unruly child and father who both needed their mouths washing out with soap (never heard language like that from a young child and it?s something my 11 old wouldn?t dream of doing, although she learn some new words on this trip), persisted throughout the night, making rest impossible. This started just after 2am Saturday the 4th and we believe the people in the neighbouring room had already been moved that night.Despite my complaint to reception in the morning and a request for a) us to be located or b) the people in room 56 to be moved I was told that the hotel was full on the Saturday night and a room location was not possible but not to worry as the ?feral family? in room 56 were leaving that day.Fast forward to the Sunday morning (5th) as I sit on the bed writing this review, the situation wasn't appropriately handled. It's disheartening to note that I was lied to by the male member of staff on reception the Saturday morning as they did in fact stay the Saturday night. The disruptive behaviour continued on Sunday morning although starting at 5am and not 2am like the previous night, affecting yet another night's sleep, leading to an overall disappointing and frustrating stay.So much for the poster in the lift stating ?staying at premiere inn means you?re welcomed into a hotel where everyone is kind and considerate towards one another?.

A bit run down particularly for the high prices we have to pay nowadays.Biggest problem was despite Premier Inn saying all of their hotels have restaurants, this one doesn't! So, no meals, no breakfast and we were not informed the restaurant had closed down despite it closing in March!! The kind desk staff issued us refunds thankfully. They were what gave this hotel any stars at all was the fact that the desk staff were friendly and helpful. The rest of the staff could be found sitting in the disused entrance of the restaurant smoking. Not a great look for the hotel! Oh and if you don't get there in time to park then you're out of luck, the tiny car park fills up quick!

We have stayed at this Premier Inn many times before but this time we noticed that it is very tired and in need of renovation. The bed was comfortable. For us it was a very convenient location.Food & drinks: None available but we knew that at time of booking.

I'm not even giving the room a one star.Smallest out of date TV I've ever seen.Having to rush to have a shower before the bath tub filled up because the plug was blocked.I had to use the light on my phone to find the light switch for the bathroom.Restaurant next door permanently closed so nowhere to eat and drink.I could also hear the people staying in the room next to me.Kettle was in disgusting condition.Cleaners shouting down the corridors at each other.By far the worst Premier Inn I've ever been to they should be ashamed of themselves.I'm just glad it was my work place that paid instead of me.I DO NOT recommended staying here.

Stayed in this Premier Inn ahead of needing a very early start the following day. Great night?s sleep as expected. However, car parking is limited and there is only a vending machine for food/drink. There is a 24 hour garage close by. The room was tired but the venue is being refurbished soon.

Unbelievably awful Premier Inn. I?ve stayed in over 60 Premier Inn?s this year and this is by far the worst. There is no restaurant. Never seen this before at a premier inn. The guy behind the desk greeting us was less than friendly. The rooms are so badly in need of updating. The television must be 15 years old. The remote for the TV is so worn all the labels have disappeared from the buttons so you have no idea where anything is. There?s no desk lamp, the carpet needed hoovering and the bathroom looks like something from the 1980s. It honestly looks and feels like a cheap, horrible B&B that you would never want to stay in. The fact that they don?t offer breakfast in any form is just unbelievable. Even the cheapest B&B, by definition, offers breakfast. Do yourself a favour, never come here.

We had stayed here a few years back and had a great experience so when we came back up north on holiday we booked back in but think the hotel has gone down hill since our first stay.First of the staff was lovely and so helpful however the actual hotel was in need of many repairs, the bed was comfy though. The restaurant next door has also been shut down leaving you with no option for a meal or breakfast, ended up having to go to McDonalds down the road every day to get breakfast.
