Good but slow

The new premises I find discriminates against our older population.
I now have to attend with my elderly father who cannot stand for long periods. The que for the 2 self service machines was more than 7 people in line (2 machines is not enough). There was counter service available with only 1 person already being seen so we headed there, there was no one waiting behind us but we were refused counter service to withdraw cash. And the lady was very abrubt in her say so, telling us to 'go to the self service!'
I myself bank here and find some members of the team very helpful and friendly but others not so much.
Barclays South Shields need to understand that their 'new' facilities are not friendly for those with limited mobility or tech ability despite a member of team being there.
I asked my Father to sit while I stood and qued for him, but seating is also very limited.
I am very disappointed in the attitude of Barclays, and the expectations you have of your aged customers. I am unsurprised by the outburst I have witnessed in branch from members of the public on sewrate occasions. One Man I witnessed lost his card to the machine because he struggled with instruction. And another lady upset because she felt she had no privacy. Making the assumption that your more vulnerable customers can and will use your facilities the way you expect is unfair. It's making banking a struggle in a world that they already now struggle, and taking away their independence. Today we were not happy customers.

Absolutely dreadful since they moved I'm thinking of changing banks ,spoken to like a child ushered to an atm no tills rubbish is an understatement

Avoid barclays altogether.
Banked with barclays all my life and the stress and hassel they cause you is just not worth it
.wouldn't give me a mortgage (santander did)
. Staff made several Mistakes attempting to set up a business account
.past from pillow to post constantly requesting more information then refusing to open the account on more than 6 attempts.
Staff are incompetent
Constantly block your account.
Always trying to sell you insurance etc.
Poor bank that's for sure I'm currently moving to santander to get away from the irritating stress you always cause!

Attended an appointment this afternoon with Annette and I feel she needs some recognition; she was fantastic.
We were looking to change a Current Account to a Joint Account to better manage outgoings. Annette made the appointment feel very personal, she took the time to understand what we needed, and guided us through what was required to make the switch.
During the appointment, Annette also made some recommendations, such as moving my Tech Pack from my Current Account to the Joint Account so we would both benefit. She also recommended the Travel Pack and explained the benefits/perks of having one, something we'll be adding to the account shortly.
People are quick to complain, so I think it's important to call out where service is exceptional. Annette is a credit to your company and it would be a pleasure to deal with her in the future.

New premises has a terrible layout. There is only one counter and I am in a queue of 10 people. There are 4 free staff members on the floor area who could be helping if there were extra window counters. There is a lady a table behind me and I can hear her whole conversation as there is no privacy. Lovely friendly staff however the layout and lack of window counters will lead to unhappy customers and staff who can?t do their job role efficiently.

I opened an account in Barclays, the lady that talked to me about the different products was really nice and helpful and I did open an account straight away albeit with a phone app which is the way things are these days I suppose although I hated that bit.
I deposited money in the account last week but I have to say I don't like the set up at all and wondering if I should have gone else where.
I hate the fact that you have to use machines to pay money in, they do have one counter but that's not enough tbh. The whole service thing is not very personal anymore, tbh it feels like going on a flight with Ryanair just do it yourself.
Barclays sort this out, it's not nice

Barclays in South Shields is closed and on your website it is listed as open, you are closing branches everywhere, making it difficult for your customers to receive proper service. I am seriously considering changing the bank, even though I have been a customer of yours for 20 years.

Having visited the new branch in king Streat earlier today I must say what an absolute joke one cashier. Have stood for nearly 25 mins .I was reading a poster on the wall which states we are here to provide an excellent service well your not it was absolutely pathetic .there's more staff standing around doing nothing providing no service at all .

Visited the new branch in South Shields on Thursday 4th April. Lovely, modern new branch. I was using the self service paying in machines. There was one awful, elderly customer in the queue behind me being really unpleasant to the staff. I really felt for them, she was complaining about it being self service and the poor staff member dealt with it politely and respectfully. I really feel for the staff having to deal with customers like this. Everyone I came into contact with were very helpful and professional.

Visited branch 27th January 2024, looking for help and advice and met with Jan who provided exemplary service and help, going more than the extra mile. Restored my faith in customer service. Jan is the measure for excellent customer service Well done Jan and massive thanks.

I was served quite well this visit, but I think on the whole the bank is going downhill in its service, in particular its counter service

How am I supposed to bank cash into my account when you close at 3pm , I don't close my business until 3pm !
