If Nationwide want to compete with the traditional high street arrogant incumbents -they have my vote -MY experience after my visit here was like black and white when I visited my usual high street bank

Terrible service. Arrogant and incompetent staff refused to listen. Appeared amazed at request to receive payment from maturing account by bank transfer rather than cheque which is so old fashioned. Stated this was not possible - it is clearly offered on website as available by visiting branch with ID. Didn?t even bother to check ID and insisted on submitting instructions to pay by cheque. Except didn?t do it correctly as instructions not processed. So I had to resubmit online. Wonder when cheque will turn up. What is the point in keeping branches open if they are so useless.

Fantastic customer service! Better than any other bank or building society. Good, old fashioned service with proper manned counters. You are warmly greeted by the clerks behind the glass and this is what more banks need people not machines! In a world full of self service and automation it's nice to just be served by real people!
