Used to love this place. It felt special. But they've cut costs and it's obvious. For me, breakfast in bed was the one thing that separated them. Now it's gone; you have to attend the restaurant. Or select cereal to the room ("ONE PER GUEST" .. "YOU CAN FIND TEA/COFFEE IN YOUR ROOM"). I can find instant coffee in my room; not a cappuccino. This has unfortunately become a three-star hotel.

I read the reviews and they said they hotel was tired and dated, I experienced nothing of the sort. It was warm, welcoming and the staff could not have done enough for us. The in-house cafe and the bar and restaurant on level one were exquisite.

Another beautiful building in a great location with fantastic service (one of the warmest welcome's I had - thanks Bruno). Rooms are well equipped and styled in a contemporary décor with a spacious ensuite with modern fittings. Bed was massive and very comfortable and we could see the Tyne from the window. There's a carpark across the road too. Plenty of bars and restaurants within a stone's throw of the hotel and the centre of town is a short walk away.

We had a great night there. Everything top notch but the friendliness of the staff made it. And a top drawer breakfast.

Good location by the Tyne. Staff excellent. It's one of those modern hotels where its like entering a mine, everything is painted dark colours and the light levels are low so if your eyesight is a bit dodgy maybe wear a head torch to navigate around the place. Food was good, burgers and cooked breakfast options recommended, breakfast buffet fare average.

The room and parts of the hotel looked tired and shabby. Quite disappointing as it used to be the place to stay when in Newcastle. Needs some love to get back up to standard
Update: clearly the hotel doesn't read reviews because they have not acknowledged the disappointment and two stars.

Great hotel in the centre of Newcastle. The station is about a 20 minute walk away. If you like bridges, this place has lots!

Beautiful location, just in front of the Millennium Bridge, which we were lucky enough to see tilting. The room is a little sad, gray and black were a must, but a little more decoration to brighten up the place would be welcome. The carpet is not very new, but appears clean. The bathroom is not new either, but very clean, without a real shower, you will have to climb into the bathtub (the non-slip mat to put there is the right size). There is no refrigerator in the room. There is a kettle, a few bags of tea and infusions, and 2 bags of coffee, and 2 of decaf, which is generally the quantity available, but you will find out by reading the "breakfast in the room" menu if you please" that you will have to make your morning coffee yourself. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but the menu is limited to grills. There is a parking lot just behind the hotel, but if you enter from the back you will have to go up a flight of stairs with your suitcases, or preferably go around between Victor's and the hotel to reduce it to a few steps . Front access is possible, but drop off.
