Me and my Doggo, received a warm reception. Room very comfortable with plenty of tea and coffee and a good shower. Unfortunately, sleep disturbed by a numpty next door, who insisted on playing his radio at top volume . however, when the night staff advised of this and numpty still refused to turn his music down. They couldn?t have been more apologetic and move me to a different room - Quiet bliss! So overall, hotel, comfy and friendly, and unfortunately you just can?t control the numpties in this world !

We've stayed at this hotel four or five times in the last few years whilst visiting our daugher at the University. I have no issues with it at all. In our opinion the owner is friendly and accomodating and the rooms clean with plenty of hot water and we've always slept well. It's a victorian building so you have to expect the odd creak or sloped floor. The question I always ask myself is does the hotel provide value for money and I think the kenilworth does. Any issues we have had have always been dealt with promptly and efficiently. There is a small car park at the back and you do have to enter the hotel from the rear entrance. I don't consider that a major problem. There's no point nitpicking... I'm not looking for perfection. It's a student area and convenient for lots of places to eat and drink and there is a bar downstairs. You have to expect all that may go with it.

The rooms are very good: clean, nice beds, small bathroom. The location is not so pretty, but if you walk a bit you can reach some nice green places.Rooms: Nice rooms. Beds were very comfy. Small bathroom with tub.

The Kenilworth Hotel is a great value little hotel ideally positioned for visiting family and friends in and around Jesmond. We needed a convenient hotel for an overnight stay to help our daughter move out of her student accomodation and I happenend upon The Kenilworth Hotel at £56 (2022 prices) for a single night with parking. The reviews were good and we were only staying a single night so I took the chance. I'm glad I did.We received a courtesy call on our way to the hotel to confirm our arrival and that there was a parking space available. Reception was manned by a friendly chap who checked us in efficiently and showed us to our room which was a large en-suite family room at the top of the house. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the en-suite contained a double sized shower with proper screen, (no annoying shower curtain!), and plenty of towels and shower gel and there was a kettle with mugs containing tea bags, coffee sachets, milk and biscuits.Although this is not a 5 star hotel, it gets a 5 star review here for exceeding expectations, good value and for the friendliness of all the people who we came into contact with. I'd be happy to stay here again and recommend The Kenilworth Hotel to anyone who needs a place to stay in Jesmond. The only caveat is that it is in the same building as a lively pub. However, this caused us no issues whatsoever during our stay despite it being a Student Night on our visit and everything was quiet well before midnight.

We booked a two night stay mid week. The hotel location was good for the city with bus stops almost outside the building. Friendly greeting on arrival everything explained other than the location of our room.It was on the top floor. We did so, up FIVE flights of stairs! The hotel was clean and fresh. New carpets throughoutOur room was small but adequate and very clean. Bathroom with walk in shower was also clean.Several good restaurants within easy walking distance.I'd definitely go back there but ask for a room lower down.Food & drinks: Only continental breakfast offered!

The receptionist was absolutely lovely and couldn't do enough. There is parking at the back. 20 mins walk into town. The room was lovely and big, we had the room right at the front. There was loads of students in the bar below but there was no problems with them and at 12 am they had gone.

I was unfortunately very disappointed with my stay at the Kenilworth. To its credit, the staff were all very friendly, and the rooms were reasonably clean (it looked like behind the bed had been missed when hoovering and there was a slight stain on the pillowcase, but nothing major).Unfortunately, our stay was ruined by noisy guests. I understand that the hotel cannot be held solely accountable for the behaviour of its guests, and that being in Osborne Road in Newcastle, you're not at all unlikely to encounter some rowdy residents. That said, I would have expected the hotel staff to do literally anything to help the situation. The rooms are clearly not at all soundproof, the door to the hotel slams shut with the might of god, and when a group of rowdy lads came into the hotel shouting up and down the stairs and cheering at 3AM, nothing was done. In fact, the only reason that the noisy gents quietened down was because I spoke to them and ask them to either leave or go to sleep. They decided that leaving was the appropriate option, and it sounded like the majority weren't even guests of the hotel, just dropping their friend off and decided to stick around for a bit. After this, other guests repeatedly came and went between 3 and 6AM, which typically wouldn't be a problem were it not for the incredibly loud slam of the front door mentioned earlier.Unsurprisingly, we slept in a bit the next morning to make up for the fact that we had barely slept the night before. Once we were up and ready, we decided to check out of our room a day early, and I requested a refund for the night we wouldn't be staying. We were told that as we had missed the usual checkout time (due to trying to make up sleep), and because the cleaner had gone home for the day, the room could not be sold and we would not be granted a refund. They also asked if I had come to speak to the night porter. At 3 AM. When I would have to exit the hotel to be able to get to the reception. The fact that the responsibility was attempted to be shifted onto me to notify the night porter of noisy guests seemed laughable. When pressed on the matter, the person behind the reception stated that they don't give refunds for noise complaints, that we wouldn't find any hotel near the city centre that did, and if the Kenilworth did give refunds for these issues, they'd "go bankrupt". This to me highlights a larger problem. If noise complaints are of such high frequency that the hotel would go bankrupt if guests were given their refunds, does that not suggest that a change may be needed? Whether that's adding sound dampening to rooms, changing the front door in some capacity, or making it so that the night porter is inside the building rather than in the reception out-building where they presumably cannot hear any noise from within, or something else entirely.I was offered a reduced rate on my next stay should I wish to stay again, but given that I wasn't able to sleep at all the first time, I think it will be my last visit. It's just a shame, I had high hopes for this hotel given the reviews. Maybe I just caught it on a bad night.

Get what you pay for. Very clean. Stairs a challenge. Floor slopped a lot so you felt drunk in night untill you got used to it. Loads of towels and hot water. Didnt use bar or go out. Just stayed one nigjt visiting sick relative so didnr recieve service or explore area. Generally good.

Me and a few friends stayed here as a weekend away hotel room wernt the cleanest and a lot of the beds damaged on arrival and our room wasn?t cleaned on second day. But the worst was spare rooms being rented to drug addicts who were sent by council his words. After arriving back drunk with friends one night we were welcomed by a lad on crack smoking it out of a water bottle on our landing he was pleasant enough at first until he was kicked out by his girlfriend became aggressive to her and smashed the room and knocked on our door when we told him to clear off. The next morning with little sleep and using yesterday dirty towels we were told our deposit would be taken for the disturbance on our floor none of witch was our fault and was this one drug addict and his mrs they were arrested and taken from the hotel rightly so on the early house 5am ish but we had a cash deposit taken from us for one of the room because we stood our ground and told a drug addict to clear off when being abusive classy move by management refusing to reimburse this deposit and even classier cocky attitude on the phone never have I had a cash deposit taken normally card and never have I had such a bad stay anywhere do not stay here unless you want dirty towels, no sleep, a stay with druggys and a extra £80 taken off you for no reason classy place and even classier response from management well done!!
