I went down for breakfast and I was the only person in the restaurant. They had this awful piped music playing which I asked the staff to turn off. It took a bit of work but they did turn it off because as I pointed out to them. I was the only person in the restaurant.It?s important for people to remember that music is so personal, and had there been some Christian praise and worship playing then I would?ve been happy but, I did not appreciate or enjoy the pop music of today.I find it. I just enjoy meal these days in silence and that organisations feel they have to blast music at you all the time. It?s not very nice.

Wonderful, good value for money meal whilst working away. We were served by a very polite and helpful waitress called Katie who went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. GREAT!

Good option for casual dining with kids.Kid-friendliness: Good for kids as it's open plan, there's a kids menu and crayons and paper is provided.

Usually reliable, but on this occasion the battered haddock was rock hard. I should have known as has happened before. Advertised as light beer battered, it was either overcooked or twice cooked.October 2023Menu much better. Waitress on her own coped very well.

Genuinely horrible service. Stood around for 10 mins waiting to get a seat in an almost empty restaurant. Once seated I got food promptly and food was great. That was the end of my good experience. Was ignored by service staff for the next 45 minutes as I waited to order Dessert. Asked for bill and promptly left. Disappointed.

Fabulous meal with family , great food at good prices. We were served by Ella, she was so friendly and attentive a credit to the company !! Thank you for making our visit just perfect.

Shocking senior staff behaviour and poor food !!!! Staying at the hotel and had pre booked the restaurant for both evening meal and breakfast. Went to the restaurant in the evening and stood at the section in front of the bar waiting to be acknowledged. There was four people behind the bar and numerous servers going back and forward with plates of food. We stood and stood without anybody acknowledging us. After a very long 10 minutes, I stepped forward and said to the manager. Is anybody going to acknowledge us. He then said somebody would be with me in a moment. Eventually, he came round and said, "Do you have a booking?" I informed him that we did have a booking and we were staying at the hotel. His response was just because you re staying at the hotel doesn't mean you have a booking. He looked on the screen and said "ah yes you're booked in." He took us to a table that hadn't been cleaned and just walked away. We moved to another table and spoke to the waitress regarding drinks. Whilst we were sitting a table opposite told us that they had been waiting forty-five minutes for their meals without any explanation. We later found out that a table at the back had walked out minutes before the food came. They had complained that they had been sitting an hour. All the food was wasted. We got the waitress to take our drinks menu and press her regarding delivery of food. We waited 50 minutes to receive our food and when it came I wouldn't give it to a dog. Both our fish and chips were lukewarm with soggy oven chips and rock hard battered fish. We left chips and most of the fish leaving the premises. The next morning we went for breakfast, because it was early there was only one table already in the restaurant. We had the same experience where we stood less than six feet away from the yorkshire lady who was in charge. She stood chatting away to a young server and completely ignored us. I politely stepped forward and said, "Is somebody going to serve us?" She came around and said, "Can I have your name please?". I supplied her with the name, and she said "i've got nothing booked." I told her that it was booked and if she gave me 2 minutes I would give her my room number from my key card. She abruptly said, "Your name isn't on here, so you re not booked in!"I showed her the key card, and she looked at the list again and said, "Oh yes it's here". I could clearly see my name and at no stage did she apologise for her abrupt manner and for shouting me down. A girl took us to a table and she was really nice. When we sat down, the table next to us were leaving and told us that they too thought the managers in charge was extremely rude. My colleague pointed out that we'd had the same reception last night from somebody different. The breakfast was good but I went up and asked a question. I once again had to stand in front of her again while she was standing chatting, completely ignoring me. As a local I get sent discount codes for the restaurant. I have not been to the restaurant since 2022 because of a similar incident regarding the poor quality of food. You can see that. I enjoy writing positive reviews about some of the opulent hotels and restaurants that I have been fortunate enough to stay in with business. During my 40 years of travelling. I can honestly say the experience that I had here was the worst ever. I'm sending a correspondence off to head office to make a formal complaint. I realise that this pub is part of a big chain and that they enjoy using microwaves more than home cooked food. They need to know that the food quality is totally unacceptable along with waiting times and staff attitudes.

Busy pub/restaurant but booked a table earlier in the day so no problem. Was dining alone so was seated on the ?single diner? table near to the kitchen, no fault with it, radiator to the side along with a double socket. Had the big stack burger with chips which was filling enough and reasonably tasty. A pleasant waitress called Emma served me and helped with my question about breakfast times. Overall as it goes a reasonable visit with no faults

Staying at the Holystone Premier Inn and with a bitterly cold wind outside, rather than driving into Newcastle city centre to eat as we had the evening before, we decided to have dinner in the Cookhouse & Pub next door and we really couldn't fault the diining experience. The food was great, the price very reasonable and in particular the attention we received from our waitress Sophie was faultless - the staff at the far more expensive restaurant we ate in on the previous night could learn a lot from her! We wouldn't hesitate to eat here again.

This place is great for a nice quiet breakfast lunch or dinner and the food is great and well cooked the staff are nice and are always nearby to help

Visited for Breakfast as we?re travelling through the area. Nice venue clean and tidy, good food options too. Staff friendly and engaging. 4 star instead of 5 as there?s only 1 coffee machine available during breakfast (or at least during our visit in November 23) for the whole restaurant so as it got busy there was a queue. However, will not hesitate to visit again, nice place.

We stayed 2 nights and very much enjoyed our 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts. The staff were excellent, especially manageress Lynn and waitress Sophie.
