Mediocre at best. Place was empty when we got there. Halfway through the food they sat another couple directly next to us despite the fact the place was empty. Food pretty standard not worth the cost & a service charge was added on the bill which was removed after querying.

Afternoon tea. Was really lovely. Scones were perfect.
Plenty of jam cream and tea.
What makes a difference is always the lovely staff.
Vegetarian options: They will do vegetarian afternoon tea if you ask!
Dietary restrictions: They accommodated my weird requirements with ease.

We've been to Fratello's a few times now, generally the day before jetting off on our hols. We feel as though it had gone downhill the last year or so and even started to look elsewhere for eating out. However, there seems to have been a change as the venue is back on form and now seems to offer more choices in pasta again. The featherblade and the milanese are very worth mentioning as they were very nice indeed!

It is a lovely place to drink alone or in company. They have all the drinks you want, the beer is fantastic. You can also taste some exquisite dishes. If you are in Newcastle this is the place. Very nice atmosphere and the service is spectacular.

Very slow restocking of buffet in fact I had to request bacon and yoghurt. Scrambled egg seemed to have been there a long time. Strange system in that you order fried eggs etc whilst serving yourself to the buffet. I had finished my buffet selection eating before the eggs arrived. Management should try it themselves and develop a better system. The local Premier Inn breakfast is far better.
