We had the upstairs for a private event, but the whole of the tavern was gorgeous and fun! The decor was neat, the drinks fresh, and the service impeccable.
Fair warning - they aren't joking about the 'giant' Yorkshire pudding, it spans a huge dinner plate!

Nice place for a drink. Barmaid was very nice. Unfortunately, the food is awful. I got the Yorkshire pudding with ?Cumberland? sausage. Literally worse quality than a Richmond, awful. Uncooked cabbage, literally nothing was seasoned. Better scran in a Spoons.

Absolutely shocking prices. This is Newcastle not London.

Very nice pub, prices are a bit steep though £14plus for pint lager and vodka and coke , wouldn't put me off going back though

Called in here for Sunday lunch as the sign advertised
home cooking.sorry but the Yorkshire pudding was def not home made more aunt Bessie and the gravy was out of a packet. Won't be going back .

In a busy period, there's a bar upstairs but not open so you have to queue to almost the front door to order a drink so not great

Great, quirky, pub. Good beer and service.

Had two half?s of beer . Both off.
Couldn?t drink them. They had the sparklers on but both were flat. One sour .
The only reason is that they were the first pulled through.
Atmosphere. Was going in for a quiet drink but had a barking dog . That?s not the pubs fault but I have accept that some dog owners gave no respect for others and pubs need all the custom they can get.
Will try again when this way again but later in the day to get a later pulled drink

Great vibe here! Can be difficult to find a pub with character in the centre of Newcastle but the City Tavern has is my go to if that?s what I?m after.
