what i witnessed in this store today from the so called management was nothing short of disgusting. insulting a womans dental hygiene in front of people after another member of the management team had already verbally abused her for not standing at the correct till. You may get what you wish for telling customers to go shop elsewhere

I got kicked out of this for walking around with my friends tryinng to decide to buy something cheap and the manager came up to me and said that we were messing around even though me and my friends had a basket full of items ready to buy and i couldnt even buy them

It is nice, tidy, and has good prices. It is right next to the station, but unfortunately it does not have a bakery, and this is what I was looking forward to.

Staff are awful you ask them a question they think you don?t have a right to the way they look at you they are a right rough lot .Stood in self service yesterday not one till open but one of till people family were in que told her which qeu to go in she had loads of shopping then till person just came and surved her without care for other people who had been waiting for ages

Rude horrible staff especially the manager, rude from the second I walked in despite me being friendly, then accused me of stealing, the manager was desperate to catch me stealing which I hadn't. Then no manners after searching my bags, no apology, no explanation, thanks or anything. I then went back in after putting my shopping in my car (in a disabled bay) yeah they seem to like picking on disabled people as I see from another review. I said he could of apologised or something and he was rude, he then squared up to me and followed me out the shop trying to intimidate me.

I've stopped shopping at this store, I now walk past it to go to the wansbeck road Asda. Most of the staff are rude and unhelpful, their security guard has the typical 'failed to get into the police force' attitude and has for NO good reason singled me out EVERY time I shopped there (during his shift)by blatantly following me around the store (he even stood and watched me from WAY within my 'personal space' while at the self service checkout) I have lived in the area for over 3 years, have never even acted suspicious nevermind stolen from there. the final nail was the VERY rude woman that was handing bags out at the self service kiosk. When I made it to the ssk, I politely waited for her to finish her conversation before asking "can I have a couple of bags please?", she looked straight at me before going to talk (literally a social conversation, not service related in the least) to the young lady that had been 2 people behind me. I muttered one word "seriously?" since this kind of service seems to be the norm in there, the woman turned around quite angrily and barked "YES, seriously, I'll get to you when I'M ready!" (I left my unpurchased shopping on the kiosk and told her where to stick the shopping). that was about 3 months ago and haven't returned since as I don't remember having one single positive experience in that store... I really wish I could give them a negative rating!

My wife and I had a very uncomfortable shopping experience at the Fawdon store in Newcastle. We were having a private conversation with an elderly gentleman aged 75 about the problems of self service terminals, after they had shut a till to open the self service terminals, when a blue shirted male member of staff started shouting over to us across a distance of two aisles. When I questioned why he was getting involved he came over, and despite us being very polite and not aggressive. He then said, do you want your shopping today or not in a very unfriendly manner. I guess sit made him feel important.
As I was at the till I asked the girl a question about the price of the product, and he immediately contacted her on the headset. He then moved next to the till two away and once we were finished I got his attention, and he shouted over with words to the effect of did you want something? Rather than shout over I walked over and politely explained that I didn't understand why he'd got involved in a private conversation and that he could have handled himself much better as it really has nothing to do with him. His answer was that it was his store, so everything was to do with him. I asked him for his name, he wasn't wearing a name badge, he refused to give me it So I asked, are you the store manager? He replied he was the deputy store manager. I asked him if I might speak to the store manager. He said If I had a complaint I had to ring up and the number was on the website. Frankly, his behaviour was hostile, argumentative, and unbecoming of someone in a management role. Now, in mitigation, I'd seen a male member of staff running out of the store at full pelt, for reasons unknown to me, so maybe other incidents had happened and he'd snapped, but I do think his is a young man with some interpersonal issues who seems to somehow have been appointed to a post beyond his capabilities.
One star Aldi, for friendliness, recruitment and store management.
One star also for the way they handle self service tills.
Five stars for dissuading customers from shopping there again, with the exception of the lady on the till who couldn't have been nicer.
I did call the customer service line, but it wasn't being answered...
