Very rude workers. Can?t understand why they would like to work in the store if they are not interested in customer service, just in chatting with colleagues. That is more important to them. Awful

I am giving my visit on Wednesday 4th October a 1 star review because I cannot give a lower mark!Ordered dog food online (live in Wales, but travel down to Woking weekly) but ordered the wrong bag of food. Went online to check returns policy, whic stated can be returned at any store. On visiting the Woking store, I was advised they have a new policy and all online orders have to be collected from home address by the courier, so they wouldn't accept it. I had to then buy another bag of dog food in store at £48.50 with no refund for original. On returning back to Wales, went online to arrange refund and collection, only to be told that refunds have to be done in store and no courier collections are made any longer due to the new policy. So I now have to return to another store (somewhere) to get the refund. This is a total shambles. If companies change policy, all staff need to be aware of the policy. The service received from the Woking store has resulted in a lost customer who has used Pets at Home for many years as I will go elsewhere in future

Rude and arrogant staff Members. Their opening hours are 9am-8pm. I arrived with daughter at 7.40pm and went straight to the fish department. Two Members of staff - Sophie and Lily ignored us and had a personal chat. After two minutes we approached them and asked to buy 2-3 new fish, this usually takes 5-10minutes. Lily told Sophie \\\"your call\\\" and left me confused, after a long decision making process Sophie refused to serve us... as 18 minutes is not long enough to buy 2 new fish (not true) and explained that they have staff shortage and we should come back tomorrow. It's worth to mention that another member of staff was at the till and we were the only customers. It's shocking, I take my cat to their vet and used to buy everything for my fish tank in this store. They left my child really disappointed and I struggled to explain to a five year old why Sophie and Lily were extremely rude and refused to help us. Complaint was raised immediately.

I've been shopping here for ages as it is convenient to get the specific cat food I need but will never shop here again due to the rude and unhelpful manager, Cara.I have always placed a click and collect order (I get a charity donation if I pay online) and then pick up the food on my way home from work. Today I placed a click and collect order but when the confirmation came through it said it would be 2 days, which was odd, it's usually available almost immediately. I went anyway as it was on my way and I was nearly out of cat food. I checked the shelves and they had plenty of the products I'd ordered. Then they would not let me collect the food as they said I had to wait for the delivery in 2 days. They said I had ordered it for in store delivery, not click & collect. I showed my email order which clearly said click & collect. The store manager said it would mess up her stock numbers to just give me the food I'd paid £70 for and that if I wanted it today I would have to pay the £70 again.I explained that I couldn't really afford to pay again 2 days before payday and asked if I could just collect the food I'd already paid for as I was nearly running out...She told me that if I cared about the welfare of my pets then I should plan further ahead and that she always ordered her pet food a month ahead to make sure her animals were cared for, and maybe i should try being more responsible in future. I found it extremely rude to insinuate that I do not care for my pets. I had ordered ahead of time, paid them money, and come in prior to running out to collect products that were in plentiful stock on their shelves. She said I could speak to customer services if I wanted, but otherwise would have to pay again.Customer services told me that my order was stuck in the system as pending and that it would be at the managers discretion to just give me the food. I asked again and she said she had 'absolutely no intention of giving me stock off of her shelves as it would mess up her stock numbers on the computer'.Very disappointing that she would put a temporary discrepancy of numbers on a computer ahead of helping a customer and animal welfare. Her attitude was extremely rude and unhelpful. She treated me with utter disdain even though i had proof of purchase and have used their click & collect service many times before. Customer services told me it was a glitch, not my fault, so why not try to help? Why work at a pet store if you do not care about animals and why be a manager if you cannot 'manage' anything?I bought some food from Asda to tide us over, and will be ordering online from Zooplus in the future as they are cheaper anyway.

If I could give zero stars I would made to feel very uncomfortable and was lied to initially. I have an ESA assistant dog and he was with me had lots of staff following me and repeatedly asking if they could help me. I had been several times since getting my dog he is very distinctive as an American Bulldog cross staffie and his markings. Yet I was followed like they thought I had or would steal something. This in its self although frustrating is not the end of the world as I had nothing to hide and no intention of stealing anything. However when I asked one of the staff as they were following me anyway like I was some kind of theif they could at the very least take some of the items I had and help carry or take to the counters for me and then they can worry less about me trying to steal it. They told me that they were not following me and would not help me. I explained that I had seen them pretending to sort shelf's while watching me but had no problems with it. Once I got to the counters they all stood around to watch me pay until, the lady serving me asked if I'd got everything and if I was having a good time in the store. I told her I had everything but was a little bit annoyed about being followed by so many people as I have issues with my anxiety and even tho I was doing nothing wrong it gets to me because they denied following me like a shoplifter. She then very politely told me that it was now their policy to follow all customers (again a lie as they were all to bizy following me and my dog and I could clearly see lots of people being left to their own busines) and voiced this. Although she was polite I ended up telling them that honesty would get them everywhere and if they had been I would of gone through with the purchase but told them to cancel it and went to Asda instead. So I will not be returning to this and possibly any other pets at home because of this.If I could give 0 ? and review the store I would but had to rate to communicate my experience. Google needs to fix this.

Accompanied my friend to buy some fish for her fish tank. The shop has a huge variety of pets for sale, including bunnies, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc

This review is about the arrogant, unfriendly staff. On 21/07/23 around 7:30pm, me and my friend went to have a casual look in the shop, and noticed a fish that looked like it had passed away in the fish department. Nobody was there, so we went to the front desk and asked a woman. We were extremely polite and well mannered, explaining how we thought one of the fishes had died. She looked at us and said "are you here for another reason than to just irritate me?" and "i think you're old enough to know fish don't move". Personally, me and my friend felt offended and quite upset as it was a genuine question and we were made to feel like a bunch of idiots. We didn't see the woman's name however we still wanted to make a review.
