I can?t justify 5* because the chips were not crispy in the slightest besides the small bits you get at the bottom of the bag. For note I ordered without vinegar and tried a few as soon as I got in my car.
The ingredients are good quality. Friendly lady behind the counter but stale chips in a chippy is just as bad as being cold. I hope this is useful and can be resolved.

Was upset to spend 45.00 on 3 bits of fish and 2 x chips to squeeze what we then see was 3 bits of very mouldy lemon . The food looked lovely but the lemon totally put us off a lot of money to waste on our New Year Eve meal

This is a much appreciated, friendly, reliable fish and chips take away. Great quality, good size fish including the usual cod, haddock, rock salmon, plus all kinds of smaller dishes such as fish cakes, cod roe, savaloys, sausages, gherkins, you name it. The chips are so good sometimes I buy a large portion to share. Staff are invariably cheerful and work quickly and efficiently, as they have to when it gets busy which it frequently does. Tip: avoid the queue: phone up and pickup, they will prepare your order in 15 minutes. Prices compare well with the local takeaways, and they also offer reduced prices for pensioners. NB: cash only!

In Warlingham's heart, by Surrey's green lane, The Captains Table stood, where memories remain. Chips once crisp and fine, like golden dawn's glow, Now turned soggy and brown, oh how could it go so? At 13:30, in lunchtime's bright cheer, We hoped for those chips, to us held so dear. Yet they disappointed, not worth the fee, £2.90 for chips, as they ought to be. To The Captains Table, a message we send, Revive those chips, on which we'd depend. For in the heart of old London's song and tale, Good chips should never, ever fail.

I have never had a bad meal from the captains table. I normally have either scampi, sausage or cods roe with chips and the chips are cooked just how I like them, well cooked and not partially raw! I am from the South Coast where chip shops are in abundance in the fishing villages and this shop is honestly the nicest I have tried!
