Charming pub in a beautiful location. Food is done well with good service even on a sunny Sunday lunchtime.
The little milk bottle for milk for your coffee is a quaint touch and reminds me of school milk (yes, that's a long time ago)

Magda & Felicity served 6 of us.
We?re hard work with dietary requirements! Felicity was very thorough checking in detail over the food. Magda was happy to make everything run smoothly. Everyone really enjoyed the food. Unfortunately the second beef rib I tucked into was disappointing as it was tough. The first was amazing and super tender .Compliments to the chef!
Suppliers fault not the restaurant. The portions were very generous anyway. In result to the slightly tougher meat, I was given a free bottle of wine and didn?t have to pay for my meal. Manager was super amazing with his quality of service. Would highly recommend going and the view and ambiance with candles and friendliness of staff made our evening.

I visit Botley fairly regularly and do have a soft spot for the place. Sadly, this time I came away with a painful head injury and I feel they are currently remiss with their approach to safety. There is a low door on the way to the toilet and despite the signs I smashed my head on it (I?m only 5?8?).
I?m still badly bruised and I really think it?s important they take action. To be clear, there are plenty of signs saying mind your head, some attempting to be humorous- and yes I can read. But life isn?t like that. Accidents still happen if you?re distracted and the injury to my scalp is really quite nasty. A lot of old pubs like this install a pad of some sort and it?s problem solved. You still get a bump but nothing as vicious as can currently happen. I do hope Botley makes the small investment here to prevent future inevitable injuries of patrons. If it was someone infirm, the outcome could be really nasty.

food was good but pricey. the inside was very oldy worldy. Service was good and didn't have to wait even at lunch time.

My partner booked here for Sunday lunch for my birthday and we were very dissatisfied with the food and the cost. The roast chicken was dry, the roast potatoes extremely salty, and the roast beef was a very small portion for £26. The roasts in well-regarded pubs in Brighton are less expensive and much higher quality. Including one drink, one starter, one desert and two roasts was just over £80, which for the quality of food was very disappointing.

Great Sunday roast service was excellent well run business.

A favourite of ours but the portion sizes have shrunk and the chef refuses to make basic changes to dishes such as swapping fried eggs for scrambled. The policy of allowing large numbers of dogs inside the restaurant is also unpleasant for those of us who do not enjoy the company of canines.

Our daughter and son-in-law had their wedding reception here in 2012.
We went for Father's day breakfast. Food was excellent, service was good. Only quibble was attention to detail on the cup front. No teaspoons to add sugar and stir drinks we had ask a couple of times. Otherwise a very enjoyable time.

Nice oldie world atmosphere.
Should provide dining area separation for the Customers that don?t want animals around them when eating their meals
