If you have any sense, do not book here!
This hotel would struggle to get above zero stars. I've stayed in Travelodge's before and know what to expect but this place is awful and I'm truly astounded that anyone has given good reviews for this place.
The place is grubby, dated and generally unclean. Common areas are similar and stairs to most rooms (no lift).
The hotel is right on the train tracks. I stayed on a Thurs/Fri night before an early flight, leaving at approx 3:30am. The trains continued all night passing roughly every 10 mins.
I had the window closed for most of the night and when the trains weren't passing, the whiring of a generator continued to annoy. Sounded like air con, but this isn't available in this hotel, so definitely not that.
Luckily it wasn't too hot, as the room was stuffy enough. When I opened the window, the noise of the trains was unbearable.
Website says 'New Design' rooms. Perhaps they moved the bed to the left a bit to fit this description, but there's certainly nothing new about it. Bathroom was quite disgusting.
Rooms are cleaned by a Robo vacuum, presumably to save costs. Not a terrible idea, but think this place needs a frequent deep clean instead.
The receptionist was pleasant though. I wanted another towel (honestly so I didn't have to step on any of the bathroom floor), and she was friendly and brought it to the room.

Unfortunately not one of the best travelodges. The rooms weren't that clean. Hairs in the bathroom. I expected basic and noisy. But it really needs a freshen up.

It's a very unusual TL, since it's an older building - part of a Toby. Plenty of character. Redhill Kebab around the corner is one of the best I've eaten. We gave the Toby a miss.

Overall it was okay. I had to change rooms due to issues with the first room, shower didn't work. But the room was changed quickly once I reported it. It's location is fantastic being a short walk from the train station and the city centre.

Great location. Nice rooms, could do with modernization. Friendly and welcoming greeting by Mohammed. Nice and quiet. Would definitely stay here again.

Had no air circulation in the room. No ice machine. The WIFI, well there was none. We spoke to person and only thing he can say was oh well.

Ok hotel, service and reception was really nice and kind. Just the hotel is quite outdated, hot shower was not really hot, everything else quite old

The hotel offers a more traditional, personal, and characterful experience than many. And a warm welcome awaits from the ever attentive and professional staff. As an adjunct, on an occasion I was in reception, a couple of American guests dropped in to comment just this. That it was their preferred choice because of its traditional ambience.
What differentiates this hotel is undoubtedly the personability of its staff. In much the same way as the reputation of a pub is defined by its landlord, or a restaurant by its chef. All who can make or break the experience. During my month stay, I met most, if not all. Kate and her ever willing team, for whom nothing was too much trouble. These are people people. Cherish them while you still can. All, without exception, a credit to Travelodge. Including Kate herself, worthy of special mention in dispatches. Angela, and the seemingly inexhaustible Wayne in his pursuit of excellence. Stella, Sophie, Clodagh, Fern, Emma, and Nova, for their engaging snippets of conversation. As and when their busy schedules permitted. Which, I add, was rare. Jenny too for her tireless work ethic and attention to detail. These folk certainly earn their salaries.
All in all a home from home, which as hotels go, is as good as it gets in my experience. Thank you all for your respective contributions.

Very convenient location. Can be a bit creaky. Single beds too small though

Booked this hotel due to proximity to airport but wish I had booked somewhere else
Would definitely not recommend and would not stay again
Good points
- nice pillows
- plenty of tea and coffee
- proximity to airport
- fan provided
- bed linen clean
Bad points
- we knew we were going to arrive late and confirmation email said to contact hotel to let them know. Rang hotel and was told the last check in was midnight but she would speak to her supervisor and ring us back to let us know if it was possible to check in after midnight. She never rang back and thankfully we arrived at 23:45
- reception staff clearly bored and uninterested in their job
- booked 2 rooms and thought these would be close to each other. They were on different floors in completely different parts of the hotel
- corridor stinks of cannabis
- room smells of cigarettes and drains
- bed like sleeping on concrete
- room dusty and not very clean
- kettle doesn?t fit in stand properly. It wobbles and feels unsafe yet it somehow works
- room backs onto a very noisy main railway line and trains pass every 5-6 minutes. Nowhere in hotel description does it mention the railway noise

Hotel was nice. Rooms were clean. Staff was wonderful. Very polite and helpful. Especially reception lady and other guy Mo. They were brilliant. Only small issue was hotel is next to train station. If you have a room facing station, train tracks were bit noisy. Other than all good. Thanks
