My Dad and I visited, hoping for a nice roast dinner. Regrettably it was not even average at best. We did not complain as it was just about edible but the fact that it was delivered to us within 5 minutes of ordering was the first red flag. By no means do we expect a roast to be made to order, but what we got was disappointing. The majority of the food was just about warm. Any colder and we would have complained. The gravy was gloopy, the veg was quite slushy and the carrot and swede mash tasted like beer. The beef was poor quality and extremely fatty. The 2 potatoes we got each were bland and the 1 parsnip we got each was small, thin and burnt. In hindsight we should have complained, now that I?ve written this all out, but as we didnt I have to be fair in stating I did not give the establishment a chance to rectify it. We just wanted to eat and go, so we ate what we could and left. I?ve had great food at this place before so it?s was disappointing and will make me consider not returning

Lovely interior, such a shame that it is difficult to get parked. The food was mediocre and there wasn't a lot of choice for those if us who are gluten free

Very nice tasting, a bit slow on food. Julia and Violet very helpful and polite. Great service from them.

Vegetarian options: No vegetarian options on the main pub menu which I did find a bit weird but there are lots on the Thai menu which is nice and was very tasty and generous in terms of portion sizes

We visited Home Cottage in Redhill over the weekend for a family meal, and overall, it was a lovely experience with just a couple of bumps along the way.
The food was spot-on. Every dish was cooked perfectly and true to its English roots. It?s clear they take pride in traditional pub fare, and it really delivered. The atmosphere was warm, friendly, and very family-oriented, which made it an easy and relaxed visit with kids in tow.
One thing that did catch us off guard was not being allowed to sit in the restaurant area. That left us with a bit of a sour first impression.
Thankfully, the rest of the staff helped turn it around. Another waitress was incredibly attentive, clearly noticed we had young children, and made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of.
Despite the mixed experience with service, the great food and welcoming vibe made it a positive visit overall - and we?ll definitely be coming back.

Home cottage is great for a drink in the beer garden and has great sides. But the Sunday roast is pretty bland.

Nice pub, as a local it can be hit and miss. Roast is good, desserts not so much. Service is so so in the restaurant. 3-4 staff standing round next to the kitchen with no leadership. Meaning you have to ask for water, drinks before ordering your food, ask for the card reader after you get your bill etc just not much initiative.

Nice place with pretty good food and drink. Pleasant environment and good service. Not great parking around though.

Booked for 3 birthdays across members if my family. This was a 630 Sunday evening booking. Most of the meal options were missing. Leaving what was already a very limited menu almost entirely optionless. Very disappointing experience.

I had diarrhoea yesterday evening following the meal and this morning. My Dad had an upset stomach (he left most of his meal). We both had the sea bream (the last 2 pieces). When I went to the kitchen to ask to heat up my Mum's broccoli, the cook was checking his phone. My Mum thought her steak was tough and her broccoli was cold.

Came for a nice meal with my pregnant partner after we had just moved round the corner upon arrival we waited 15 minutes to be served a drink we ordered food the beef rump came way undercooked burnt on the out side and raw as could be in the middle witch meant it couldn?t be eaten by a pregnant woman
I had the ribs witch came as a half rack of ribs with no chips and three onion rings so after spending £50 on food and drinks we was both still hungry
I?d highly advise not to eat at this establishment

Very good fish and chips. Lovely batter. Pudding was a lovely crumble but could have done with more custard.
Dietary restrictions: Had a good gluten free selection.
