Stunning location and good food. The fish and chips was good, very crispy and generous. The steak with chimichurri sauce was lovely, with steak cooked perfectly. Take time to visit the church and cemetery across the street and wonder the area. This makes for a great day out.

We had a wonderful meal yesterday evening. The quality of the food was very good and the staff were warm and friendly. Our waiter, Kaleb, was accommodating to our many questions and generally had a pep and attentiveness to him that has been distinctly lacking from restaurant staff since covid/brexit. The barman, whose name we didn't catch, also made some good drinks recommendations and there were lots of non alcoholic options. The only feedback I have was that there was a bit too much olive oil and salt on the chocolate cremeaux, and the women's toilets didn't have any hand soap, even though I mentioned it to staff and there were a lot on shift, hence why I've given 4 stars not 5.

Superb pub, superb staff, food and service. It's in a special location and that's why I've been coming here for years. Josh deserves a special mention, his attention to detail is admirable.

This is a very special pub and restaurant in Mickleham near Dorking. It is surrounded by the beautiful Surrey Hills and is easily reached from A24. Even the 465 bus from Kingston or Dorking will take you right there. We decided on the off chance to treat ourselves to the delicious burger there and it was fabulous. In the past we've had a terrific Sunday roast and a couple meals with friends. Service is exceptional, as is the quality of the food. A relaxed stroll through the countryside to the right of the church opposite completes the experience.

Excellent pint of Guinness, terrace is nice but can be a bit noisy next to the road. Food is also good.

Parking is limited on a narrow road
The front garden is on this busy road so not very pleasant
The Sunday service was poor - had to wait 15 minutes before I got up to find a server.
The food was fantastic yet very expensive.
Perhaps not as good as hoped for based on personal recommendations.

I recently hosted my husband?s 40th birthday here and I couldn?t be happier with the experience! From start to finish, the team went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly. The space was beautifully set up, the staff were incredibly attentive and professional, and every detail?from the food to the ambiance?was perfect. So many people commented on how great the venue was, and I couldn?t agree more. If you're looking for the perfect place to host a special event, this is it. Highly recommend!

nice ale, nice location, old building, worth a visit if you're around box hill. church opposite is atmospheric and the buses seem reliable if you don't want to drive.
