Stayed here for one night as part of a birthday treat. Slightly weird blend of Edwardian (?) house and 70s nautical interior, which took a bit of getting used to but wasn't too scary. Didn't eat dinner there but the breakfast was great. The room was modern and comfortable although the bathroom could have done with a refurb, but it was clean. Unfortunately there was a wedding on while we were there, and we were probably the only guests not with the wedding party. Far be it from me to begrudge anyone a great wedding reception (and it looked it) with partying long into the night, but you'd have thought that when we booked, the hotel might have asked us if we were staying for the wedding (alarm bells) or warned us about it, and also perhaps wouldn't then have put us in a room directly over the bar? Sadly not. Hence the 3 stars. The hotel, whilst having some great deals on rooms, clearly does a lot of weddings, being a deVere Venue. So I would recommend checking when you book, to ensure a good nights' sleep.

We stayed here for around £30 a night on a special deal. The hotel is set in a wonderful wooded area not far from Hindhead and Haslemere, up a winding road and well away from the road. The rooms are small, but comfortable, and the hotel has a strange nautical theme. The house, and associated buildings are actually from a navy college which used the area - and admittedly are not to everyones tastes. However, the location is excellent for both the South Coast and London - and everywhere in between. I wouldn't pay the full price to be honest, but de vere often have cheap deals, and this is a cut above the travelodges and travel inns!
