Update: March 2023No change!! Haha! Still the loveliest friendliest pub around. Come back so often because always guaranteed a warm welcome and lovely fresh home cooked food. Sorry to be repetitive, but I can?t praise John, Tracy, Bobby & Matt & Chloe enough. They work tirelessly to provide for all visitors.The friendliest team and lovely fresh home cooked food.We visit quite regularly and always get a warm welcome. Matt happily panders to my fussy eating habits!! If you are vegan or veggie, you?ll always get a good meal here and lots of choices too. John and Tracey are the loveliest, and most welcoming landlords. Very happy to support the independent public house, makes a change from the monotony of the many chains around, that are sometimes so soulless.

Firstly, I must apologise for not rating this family run business sooner.. We visited exactly a month ago today on 2 March for my dads 83rd birthday, for dinner. Tracey and John, who run this Inn/Restaurant went to a lot of trouble with table decorations, a birthday card and banner and a candle in my dad?s desert. Our meals were freshly prepared and all delicious. My son?s goujon starter, well I?ve never seen such huge goujons, which he enjoyed immensely, lovely varied menu. I had bangers and mash, my dad have liver and bacon, and my son and mum had cod and chips. All delicious, hot rolls with my pate starter. Honestly, I cannot rate this place enough?small bar area which we sat at for a drink before dinner, quirky and friendly. We will definitely be returning? thank you.

I can honestly say that this was a very poor experience and is not worth £85 a night. The rooms are old and very dirty. The electric is run from an extension lead from the outside and the heating is a portable plug in radiator which you move from bedroom to bathroom. Outside is like something from steptoe and son. Don't not waste you money. It is a real shame as I feel it could be a little gold mine with investment.

After having this restaurant recommended to us by two separate people, we visited in Mar 2023 for a meal for four of us. Two vegetarians and two meat-eaters, but we all tried the vegan menu. The food was excellent - probably the best we have eaten locally, and the portions were very generous, especially for the price, which is lower than most pub restaurants. Service was very helpful and friendly. I cannot comment on the non-vegan menu, but it is good that they offer such variety.The restaurant was very quiet for a Friday night, but it was nice to be able to have a conversation at the table without having to strain to hear ourselves over other people, so we were happy it was so quiet. I think more people should know about this little gem of a restaurant, and definitely try out the vegan menu!We will definitely be back - not least to try the vegan breakfast, and Sunday roasts!

We stopped here with the family for lunch. We still had a bit of a drive ahead of us and there was a massive traffic jam so we just tried this cosy little hotel restaurant. We weren't dissapointed! Great lunch and my children had there first proper English breakfast which they enjoyed very much! The Eggs Benedict were great too!Thank you for our first good meal on our holiday!

We ate lunch here for Mother's Day and couldn't have been more disappointed.Having pre ordered lunch for 8 at their request we felt sure the service was going to be smooth and we would get lunch promptly. We sat down and had drinks orders taken and starters eventually arrived but it was then a very long wait for the main courses.For both the starters and main courses they had to take food with gluten in away and replace it with gluten free options for the two coeliacs in our family. The waitress said she was helping out and didn't know but we made it clear in our booking email that two people were gluten free and it is not good in a restaurant not to be aware of this.The main courses were very varied in quality. The three people who ordered steak found it tough and flavourless and the chips seemed to be frozen ones that had been cooked, barely. Some of the others found their food ok but nothing was amazing. I gave my steak to my dog!!To be fair the waitresses were kind and the manager came over to make amends and gave us 10% off our bill but I would rather have had nice food, on time and an enjoyable lunch out.The ice cream unbelievably was also inedible. My sister couldn't tell what flavour it was and said it was slimy. My daughter said while it was better than her lasagna she still didn't want to eat it.£200 for a meal like that for a special day out was not worth it.Even the first bill they brought us, we were about to pay and the manager took it away and said it was incorrect. He had put 6 adult meals on instead of 4 adults and 4 children.I would certainly never eat here again and would recommend that others avoid it for food.I will add to this that very very very rarely give a negative review and usually give places 5*s but this was awful even overlooking decor in places..

We turned up after an extremely busy day in the restaurant and were given such a warm welcome. Our meals were absolutely delicious - I had braised lamb and my husband had liver. Sooo good! We would have loved desserts but I'm on a diet so we didn't. We had a lovely long chat with the very friendly lady. We highly recommend this family run restaurant. They do a fantastic range of delicious home-cooked food and cater well for vegans, too. The place suits family meals, special events and couples. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed!

It was a lovely evening. The family who run this establishment are friendly warm and nothing is too much trouble for them. The chef is very good and went the extra mile for our three year old granddaughter., he cooked her a mac and cheese with fresh potato fries that was not on the menu. It is so nice to eat in a restaurant that is not a chain company.

The accomodation was cramped, dinghy and shabby. There was little natural light, a broken light bulb, torn curtains, a problematic shower and a radiator that didn't work (unsurprisingly as the top was littered with dirty straw as though it had been dragged in from a field). The heating was provided by a small and very noisy fan heater running on a dubious (safe?) extension lead under the front door from an external source. A barking dog was kept in a room nearby and the front door opened onto an area used for dumping old tyres, pipework, plastic sheeting and a wheelbarrow amongst other things. However the breakfast was very good, with an excellent choice and the service was good too. It was disappointing though that the only coffee on offer was instant, the coffee machine having broken. Sadly we would like to enjoy the breakfasts again but wouldn't be prepared to put up with the accomodation in order to do so.

I stayed in Room 14, It was very dated and in amounts of disrepair. The curtains were ripped, the carpet in the bathroom was disgusting, the step carpet was filthy. The tiles are cracked and broken in the bathroom, felt like I was going to fall through the floor when stepping out the shower - a simple slip mat covered the broken floor. I had to specifically ask for toilet paper. The room needed a good vacuum as the wooden floors seem to have sand on them - not nice climbing into bed with sandy feet. The TV kept loosing signal, I was woken up by someone cutting wood for a fire outside the rooms. Not Ideal as I had had a 4am start. The customer car park looks like a broken down car lot and scrap metal collection point. The whole place is in disrepair. I requested an early breakfast as I was leaving early, I had put this in writing at time of booking online. At the time of booking in at the hotel The owner was surprised to see it on the booking paperwork and said they would make a breakfast sandwich I requested brown bread, I received 2 sandwiches on white bread on the first morning at the agreed time, I mentioned this later on in the day and the lady apologized and said she would inform the kitchen. I did not receive the packed breakfast the next morning. I left just after the agreed time.

World class service excellence! - Whilst staying away from home for work and you stumble across a hidden gem of a hotel! Now there?s a statement - we often hear this statement as a vision or a goal - ?world class? - The Godstone Inn and coach house restaurant, Godstone, Surrey aren?t even trying to achieve that status or make any claims that they deliver this - however John and Tracy are delivering this - for every customer who walks through the door of this charismatic hotel, bar and restaurant. They can?t compete with the big chains and have really struggled through the pandemic - even closing and reopening and demonstrating real resilience to pull themselves through difficult times. All I can say is they get the basics right! They actually get them brilliantly right. Welcome, environment, atmosphere, service, food quality, comfort - all the basics are brilliant basics - and their human and personalised approach is just outstanding! I feel like I became one of the family and treated like a local last night!! Food quality is outstanding, it was difficult to choose what to have and WOW! What a breakfast! I?ll be going back again and telling everyone I know about how good they are and sharing my experience with thousands - hopefully John and Tracy will welcome some of you in the future!
