The "award winning pies" were very disappointing. The roasted vegetables were definitely from the day before and reheated before being served. The prawn and calmary starter was inedible. Overpriced food for the quality that you get.

I feel to rate a 1* experience would be unkind, but I cannot say many good things about this pub. I could not recommend it to anyone. It seems a general consensus around the area that this is not a popular place, especially as I live and work in the area. Everybody who is local, and has been for a while, will always describe the crown negatively. You do not hear good things. It is evident the beer lines do not get cleaned very often, as none of the beers I have tasted taste as they should (I have worked pubs for a couple of years). I feel for the staff, truly. Some of them are rather kind; some seem they have no time for you at all. The pub has gone seriously downhill, as everyone did seem to love the crown at one point. If I were visiting the area, I would visit another pub - such as the red lion, the white lion, or the kings arms - where staff are kind, and you shall have a nice experience. I don't like slating any place, but this genuinely is the most dire pub I have ever visited... I've visited a few times, to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it's no good.

No atmosphere, no welcome from staff. When we ordered the food at the bar it was obvious it was the bar girls first day judging by the support she needed. No problem with that other than there's more to standing behind the bar such as customer interaction, looking in my general direction would have been nice and possibly- dare I say - a smile! The food was appalling. Sausages barely cooked looking raw, the mash tasted like it was cooked yesterday, the red cabbage tolerable- the gravy was nice. Luke warm coffee was a mistake- we shouldn't have expected any better. I definitely wouldn't ever eat there again & I wouldn't recommend it.

Today I got charged twice for the same order at the Crown in Egham. After I placed our food order at the bar I went back to our table when the bartender yelled across the room that my card was declined. I went back with my wife's card and paid again. When I checked my bank account on my Bank's app I saw that the transaction went through and was not decline. When I told the manager he seemed to know about it and said "don't worry it'll bounce back"! When I pressed him about why this has happened, he said the machine sometimes malfunctions but I shouldn't worry because it will "bounce back" in 4 or 5 days! When I asked for the charges to be reversed for that transaction, he said that he could not do that. I feel as if I was taken advantage of and I am thinking of lodging a formal complaint because this behavior does not appear to be very honest. The transaction went through, the manger seemed to know and did not say anything. It should have been reversed right away as it's the Crown's fault.

Thank you for your kind generousity and sharing top customers with The Reds, Loungers and Kings Arms. Sending Ray of sunshine is the best thing that you did along with 28 others and may it continue daily.

Went for Sunday lunch and the food was OK but only OK. For the price I would have expected more and the menu looks impressive. Not much of an atmosphere and when you are out for food I would expect to be served at the table. There was also a old smell to the pub as if not clean!

This afternoon we went for a family meal in the Crown Egham . There were four adults and a two year old . We all ordered food , only one out of the five meals were edible. The chips were so dry and the potato content was non existent . Burger buns were burnt and the chicken was so over cooked you couldn?t eat it . How can they get four meals so wrong ? Very disappointed and will not return there for food again .

What has happened to this place?? Been a firm favourite for years as our office is down the road but went there today for our Christmas lunch get together and it was awful. We were a pre-booked table of 6 and all ordered one after the other. Two meals came out and were eaten by the time the next one arrived (which was nothing like the description on the menu so after complaining it was taken back into the kitchen only to reappear with a bunch of Rocket dumped on top.) Then one more meal arrived. Myself and one other were still waiting for our food at this point whilst meals for a different table were being served. Surely you're supposed to do one table at a time and bring all the food out together?? We gave up in the end and asked for refunds. Avoid unless you have 3 hours for lunch, it wasn't even busy in there!!

Really disappointing. Went with 6 of us for Christmas lunch (booked over a week ago with numbers) and was sorely disappointed. Each of us ordered within minutes of each other, two meals (steak sandwiches) came quickly and were good, but the rest of the meals took over 30 mins to prepare, did not come with the items listed, and some did not come at all!One salad that was ordered was meant to come with mangetout, tenderstem broccoli, rocket, roasted tomatoes etc. and, for £15, came with just iceberg lettuce, salad dressing, a singular raw beef tomato and slice (singular) of red onion topped with a few piece of falafel. When we complained the manager took it back to get replated with the correct items, however came back where a handful of rocket, red onion and some pickle had been chucked on top. After 45 minutes, 2 meals did not arrive at all. We were refunded for the salad meal and 2 meals that did not come, but were met with the excuse that a walk-in table at the same time as us of 7 people was the reason for the delay and issues with the food.Huge shame as had been a real favourite and now won't be going back.

Just had a very disappointing meal at the Crown and feel somewhat robbed if I?m honest. Paid £64 for a couple drinks, couple of very basic burgers which sounded delicious on the menu but were macdonalds at very best, a handful of under cooked chips, and a couple of desserts which came with barely a mouthful of ice cream. We said we weren?t happy with the main courses & if they would give us a full scoop of ice cream to which they point blank refused. The standard of food here has taken a dive since we?ve lived in Egham and of course the price has rocketed. Will not be returning.

Very disappointed with the meal my husband and I had this evening. The veggie/vegan burger was very uninspiring. We then ordered a sticky toffee pudding which arrived with only half a scoop of ice cream. When we asked for some more we were told no! ?That is the portion size?. Is this really the way to keep your customers happy? Safe to say we will not be returning any time soon.

Went today and we were a party of 4. Waited nearly an hour for food but pub was empty (we went in at 3pm) this place used to be full but maybe under new management? I told bar staff and chef we were disappointed with food but told no interst to be honest. It was luke warm ,very small portions & very dry like it had sat under a light forever..we were actually wanting more food when we left.. I ordered beef roast dinner but dry, partner wanted triple roast but run out. On the menu it claims unlimited roast potatoes, yorkies and gravy we asked for extra gravy at point of ordering but didn't get it. Asked again after receiving our meals but got it half way through and only 3 extra potatoes between 4 of us. So really disappointed as it was a birthday dinner, every other pub I have been to has giant roast dinnersI have lived in Egham 10 years but would not eat here again in all honesty, and been in loads of times for drinks but never again to eat.

One gets the impression this establishment is being deliberately run down. What used to be the best pub in the area but not anymore. Staff seem poorly trained with no sign of any management - great reluctance to clear and clean tables. Very few customers and no atmosphere. Sad decline that can only go in one direction - and that is closure.
