I really wanted to give this hotel more but whilst some aspects were good like accommodating staff, comfortable room other aspects fell short. I rang before I booked to see if it was accessible and told yes but there were steps to the lift and stamps before a ramp. I know it?s an old building but could be more thoughtful to those with mobility needs. We got a Sunday night deal with dinner bed and breakfast. Dinner was really nice and service good. Included a drink on arrival no non alcoholic alternative available. The dining staff facilitated non alcoholic cocktails at dinner which was appreciated. Offer included 2 tickets to Hampton Court Palace but we weren?t told the Palace was closed on a Monday. Breakfast was limited. Beautiful views from restaurant on Thames location location

The 'Bollinger' Afternoon Tea. We were given a gift voucher by a friend for this afternoon treat . The location of the hotel is great, and the view lovely . The glass of champagne was probably the best bit. The savoury food offering was adequate, certainly nothing special, and the cakes were sugary and sickly sweet. The server forgot the water that he had previously offered , and the service was perfunctory. It was very quiet , and there were only a few other guests in the restaurant. It was raining heavily outside, so we were in no rush to leave . The offer of another glass of 'fizz 'or some more tea would have been nice, and we would have been happy to pay for it. Apart from the 'is everything alright' question earlier, the staff were barely present in the room. Perhaps they were all on their break . In the absence of any further offer of service we decided to finish our 'Afternoon Tea "next door at the Mute Swan., where the service is always warm and friendly .Considering what my friend had paid paid for this experience , in my opinion it was not good value at all.. Having worked in Hospitality for 30 years I know what authentic service looks like. The staff appeared to be going through thc motions. Come for the view, and maybe the Hampton Court experience , but I'd give the Bollinger Afternnon Tea a miss.

I stayed here as had a lovely dinner next door but forgot about trains on strike/or work. When I first asked I was quoted over 200 pounds to which a said"WHAT!!!???". I was then told we'll would £160 be okay, so said fine as I had no place for my friend & I to stay. It annoyed me that they tried to fob me off with higher price, then lower. My mother ran Hotels in Mayfair so have a fair understanding of hotels. Most bizarre layout I have ever experienced in a hotel. Left room for front desk & was immediately lost due to different areas called different names in attempt to be quirky. Eventually found desk & nobody there, tried to find room got lost again as rooms were not numerical & after 1/2 hour were I constantly ended up at empty desk I found the staff all chatting by accident in the restaraunt ! Room was okay nice doggy bed & toy for my lab but disgusting smell ofter I had a shower that lingered all night even with door closed. Complained next morning & was told I would be recouped part of bill & an apology but never came. Would I recommend ? Only if stuck due to rail works/strike. Its tried to be quirky but really like something out of Alice in Wonderland

This is a copy of the email I sent to The Mitre following a corporate event where we took 30 bedrooms. I would go elsewhere for a meeting or wedding in future: I hardly ever do this but I was so disappointed in the service (and the food) for our event that I?d like you to remove the service charge at the very least. Examples are: ? I had to ask multiple times for water, coffee etc to be refreshed. One of the breaks was missed completely, and when I went to chase Betsy (Betty?) she had no awareness of the time or the fact that it had been missed. ? The cards for the coffee/hot water were dirty throughout. Untouched watermelon was left all day without it being cleared. ? Staff weren?t around to ask for extra drinks throughout the meeting; they didn?t circulate round the tables to serve people at the dinner, no water or wine was poured. The wine and water was just plonked on a side table. No one was around to serve people drinks or help at either lunches; drinks were left out on the second day but there were no bottle openers so guests had to go round the bar to find one. ? The first lunch was 20 minutes late and everyone stood around with no drinks served until I asked. Dishes were missing from the lunch on the second day ? the salad was only provided when everyone had eaten, flatbreads were delayed. Tables were set up for two people when it was clearly a social meeting. ? The lack of planning at the lunches for our vegan, pescatarian and gluten-free guests was truly awful. I was told several times that the (allergic) vegan guest could eat dishes that clearly had dairy in them eg aubergine covered in cheese, potato salad covered in mayonnaise. The lunch dishes were so limited that anyone with dietary requirements was left with one dish each day ? some sad looking vegan sausages are not enough in 2023. No one seemed to look at the lunch menus and understand that gnocchi isn?t a good combination with lamb koftas. Chef?s choice menus only work if the chef knows what they?re doing. The food at the dinner was much better than the lunches but still nothing special. ? No one announced dinner or lunch was served. ? Staff clattered up and down the stairs behind the orangery, shouting to each other and disturbing our meeting. ? No one came to check if I was happy at the end of the event; we cleared the room with no help. We didn?t sign a tab at any point, I still haven?t seen a breakdown of drinks. For over £19k, the standard was nowhere near high enough ? events at Great Fosters, Pennyhill Park, the Royal Berkshire have all been significantly better on service and food. The refurbishment is good and I appreciated the room upgrade, but I would have much preferred excellent service.

Popped in for dinner and a drink on a lovely summer evening. Sat outside on the terrace watching the paddle boarders drift up the Thames. Relaxing atmosphere, would be great for a lazy Sunday afternoon and a bottle of rose. Friendly and attentive service. Really good food and definitely leave Space for pud? Eton mess!

Went for Sunday lunch. Staff were nice, service was good, nice atmosphere. Unfortunately the food was awful. The roast consisted of 2 tiny slices of beef, 2 minuscule roast potatoes, 2 tiny carrots, a bit of cabbage and a Yorkshire pudding. It was barely warm and completely tasteless. Had been looking forward to eating here for a long time but unfortunately we were totally underwhelmed. Last time we eat here, shame as it is no in a lovely location.

We had the most exceptional customer experience from start to finish. Just book it, you won?t regret it. Today we headed for high tea with Hampton court palace tickets for my Mums birthday. The food, service and the staff were exceptional. It was such a special experience my little daughter said it was the best bolognaise she had ever had. We won't forget our afternoon. The setting is wonderful the staff come across as highly experienced and trained. They make the place special. Thank you to the staff and bar and chiefs for the kindness and warmth they really did make a difference. We can?t wait to go back we loved it from start to finish.

It was the first night me and my wife had away from our baby in 18 months. We were looking forward to a lie in in a nice hotel. But the fire alarm went off at 3am and then repeatedly while we were having breakfast. No apology, no discount. Told ?the fire alarm is for your safety? when complained. Better off staying in a chain like Travelodge that would refund you when that happens, than a hotel like this which just takes your money and gaslights you.

We stayed at The Mitre at the end of May 2023 as we had an unexpected one day layover in London. We made the decision not to go into town as we just wanted to relax and we could not have chosen a more perfect spot for our stay. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with smiles and made to feel very welcome. Our room wasn?t ready when we arrived so we spent a few hours strolling around and stopped by a pub for a snack and something cold to drink. When we arrived back we found that we had been upgraded to the King Henry suite, which was absolutely gorgeous and where we could have happily spent several days. I read another review complaining about the noise from being close to the bridge and the old windows. This really can?t come as a surprise in such an old building so I guess it?s all about knowing what to expect from a centuries old building next to one of the crossings over the Thames. We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant and a great breakfast before we, sadly, had to leave for the airport. For all of the quaint charm of the building, the great food and the wonderful bed and bathroom - the one thing that really stood out was the warm and friendly service. It truly felt like a home away from home and this is the reason we know we?ll be using The Mitre as our launchpad for our next road trip in England with the whole family.

We had a wonderful short break at the hotel. The location is perfect for visiting Hampton Court and the hotel gave us complimentary entry vouchers for the Palace. Staff were amazing - friendly and helpful. Little touches like a glass of wine on arrival and real milk in the room fridge were much appreciated. A very special birthday treat! Thanks

We travelled from Salisbury for a friends wedding at the hotel, arrived at 11am for a 1pm start. We hadn?t eaten before we left so was looking forward to a snack to keep us going until 3pm (the wedding lunch). We spoke to reception and they told us the restaurant opened at 12 and to sit in reception and wait. When we finally got a table in the restaurant, we were told there were no snacks or light lunches and could only have what was on the menu (which was more like a dinner menu). We spoke to the manager to see if he could just get us a sandwich or something, but no, the menu or nothing - so it was nothing!! With a hotel of that size, and the fact we were guests at a wedding they were hosting a snack would have been simple.

Amazing personalised cocktail enjoyed! Such an unexpected memorable touch to a birthday treat! Excellent service and staff throughout! The location is second to none. Just on the river by the palace 100% worth a stop off. Must go back soon??.

We stayed in the Catherine Parr suite. Supposedly one of their top 2. Not cheap but sadly rather disappointing. Noisy (directly over the front and the bridge) no double glazing. Tired furniture with stains on bath and chairs which were low and springs had gone. Light not working in bathroom ditto extractor fan. Tv had visible wires everywhere. Bed was comfortable and staff lovely. Parking a nightmare and Nobody offered to feed the metre at 8.30 in the morning although it was right outside the front door. No hotel Parking was available. Bad experience for the price.

Nice hotel, lovely rooms. Service was slow we had to wait a while to check in and check out. Breakfast included in B&B rate but warning only certain items - cooked breakfast is extra and this isn?t mentioned at booking. Breakfast also wasn?t great - overcooked eggs Benedict and I?d expect better food in a hotel that charges £280 a night for a room.
