Booked for a Saturday evening, the place was almost completely empty. We'd checked the menu online the night before, but a photocopied sheet with half the items was presented at the table on arrival. We ordered from what was left, even though both our preferences were now absent, and waited an hour and a half for nothing to turn up. The few other customers made complaints and left. It became clear a wedding party had arrived and there was no staffing capacity to serve the rest of the restaurant. As we left, having never got our food, to add further insult, I was charged a £5 service fee on top of the £40 wine we had whilst having to wait for nothing. Many couples I saw leave seemed to be in miller and carter when we got there, so I have to presume almost no one actually got food. The staff were arguing back with the customers, there was regular shouting - for an anniversary dinner it was a disgrace. It used to be my favourite; we've been going for 5 years, but by the looks of it everyone else already determined this place is finished. Now I know too, and I'll never be returning. Shameful.

Six years on from leaving a five star review I get the feeling that this place is hanging on by its fingertips. Much reduced menu, smaller portions, out of stock on simple basics like cider and some of the menu items.
The best thing? The chips. Otherwise it just scraped it's way to expensively mediocre. A crying shame as it used to be fabulous.

Very disappointed. We used to love Roka. The menu is much smaller and less varied, with a few things out of stock/ unavailable. The majority of food seems to have come ready made (definitely avoid the calamari) and lacked flavour. Portions weren't overly large for the high price tag. The waiter did his best to keep us informed of the wait for food as there were 9 of us, but we did only order mains and were the first in the restaurant. The sparkling water wasn't chilled.

Such a shame, we used to really love this restaurant but unfortunately it?s gone severely downhill. Understaffed, +1hr waiting time for food (with some meals not arriving) and limited menu with little variance (and even unavailable items from that!) Food was cold and not up to standards considering price point. I feel genuinely sorry for the 2 waiters who clearly get no support from management- safe to say will sadly never return.

We booked this restaurant for a group of 27 people and we had a lovely experience . The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and inviting . Everything from the cocktails to the mains everything was just top notch .They kept communication throughout after booking ,so I had nothing to stress about .

Well, what a complete and utter disappointment.
The actual menu didnt resemble the online version.
The menu we were given, i ordered a kleftiko, but then was told it was not available. Why not cross it off?
They dont even do shish kebabs anymore. And its Turkish?
Not a very good start...will never go back, but will use Opuz in Wokingham next time.
The chairs were old school, no cushions so numbness crept in.
What we did have to end up ordering was mediocre, for the price.
12.5% service charge crazy.

Came for dinner as a group of 6 and we all agreed this was the worst meal out we've had in a long time. From the moment we ordered our first drink the waiter set the tone for the evening. There was no same, friendly greeting and actually he was just rude.
The bad service continued through and from every waiter we had. Drinks came out in dribs and drabs after long waits for every round we ordered. We must have been asked for our food order 7x in the first 20 minutes and in the end he told us we needed to order. 2 people ordered sea bass, their veg arrived after they had finished their food. Again food came out in dribs and drabs and 2 people finished their food before the last person even received theirs. The menu provided was not what was online and it was considerably smaller with not that great a choice.
We were told at 10.30 it was too late to order dessert. Whilst the roof terrace was full (7 or 8 tables) there was nobody seated inside and I would hardly call them at capacity. Food was average, nothing to note or return for. All round we really disappointed as we had heard good things.

They tried to tell I couldn't pray outside like the own the street. Are you guys not supposed to be Muslim. It will increase your business not decrease. Also seem to have an issue when I park outside.

I had lunch today here and we?ve been given the lunch menu and ordered the £14.95 per main and desert. I didnt see any other option. Anyway, worse food ever, we ordered the mezze and the chicken guvaci, but very little tiny portions, not tasty. The waiter din not bring salt or pepper, did not ask if we need sauces , anything else. He took the order from a way distance, not sure why. And they added service charge too. Never again.

I am embarrassed to review this restaurant claiming to serve good quality Turkish food.
Firstly, this is the only Turkish restaurant on the planet where they charge you for bread (£7 for the same bread sold in any Turkish shop for 89p).
All other Turkish restaurants I've been in, serve free bread, hummus and olives as soon as you sit down.
Indeed, prices at Roka are the highest you'll ever find in any Turkish restaurant.
For example £12 for a glass of average wine, £40 for the bottle!
Prices from the menu are equally eye watering and no main dish is cheaper than £20.
They have a terrace with tables, but they didn't ask if we wanted to go there.
In fact I would've preferred it because the indoor space is very dark.
Now, as I sat down and saw these prices I was looking forward to exceptional food and plentiful portion, in pure Turkish style.
Unfortunately I was deeply disappointed.
Their idea of food is something pre cooked some times previously (days?) and warmed up in microwave or oven before serving.
Starters were mini portions of frozen stuff banged in the oven, nothing better than what you'd do at home with Iceland food.
Rice was inedible, probably cooked the day before and reduced in a pulp.
The taste of the meat was somewhat sour, almost rank, however, the portion were small and most of it was vegetables as hot as the earth core.
The sweets were ok, but again, a minuscule portion for £8.
2 glasses of wine, 2 starters, 2 mains and 1 dessert £110.
In any other Turkish restaurant that price feeds 4 people to Christmas dinner standard.
I don't know what they're trying to do, maybe they want to copy Gordon Ramsay with his gourmet little portions and extortionate price, or maybe they simply don't know how to cater.
Got to say, there were other 3 tables ordering only drinks, maybe they knew about the food.
The cocktails looked good, but we didn't try them.
The only good point of the evening was the singer and pianist, very good indeed!
Overall I would rate this restaurant as one of the worst I ever tried and surely the worst Turkish restaurant.
You need good food to stay in business.
Don't you realise that on a Saturday night you only have 3 tables ordering food and other 3 only drinks?
And many empty tables?
I am surprised of the so many good reviews: either, people around there don't know any better, or the chef had a very very bad day, the worst of his life.
With those prices they should serve the best Turkish food in UK, but they don't.

We had this kebab with yogurt for the first time and I can just say it was just enormously amazing, staff were very welcoming, introduced a new wonderful wine to me

Absolutely love the food, but was really disappointed to learn that the service charge that is added without question, is NOT shared with the servers / waitresses. We even asked about leaving a cash tip for the server but was told that management takes cash tips off the servers also.
I think this is awful, especially considering I could see the stress and anxiety that the senior staff member was putting on the young servers.
