If I could leave a zero I would. Absolutely heartbroken and aghast at how male manager 'P' spoke and ranted at me completely out of the blue and also lied to me at 8.20am this morning. I had mistakenly ordered the wrong light bulb online and said to the 'new' girl whom I had not seen before 'oh I will return it now then as the fitting is wrong'. She checked I had made the error and then said you need the receipt to return it. I politely stated that I had no online receipt as I had literally just picked it up. I explained I did not have internet on my phone and for any pick up codes took photo's of my computer screen. I said you can take my email address and check it that way as it had been done in the past before when I had forgot my argos card in a pick up situation. The manager who was serving the one other customer near me stepped over to us and just exploded. Waving his hands about whilst ranting and spat out 'LOOK I DON'T MEAN TO BE RUDE(but clearly was) BUT WE ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH YOU'' ...That was an absolute lie. Still with his hands wavering he angrily said 'Our system is down and we haven't got 10 minutes spare to look up your receipt anyway' ..I was totally shocked. It was dead quiet everywhere. I asked if the system was down until 8.30am. He snapped and said NO COME BACK IN AN HOUR, now not even looking at me. I then turned to the new girl and said but I don't understand what is happening. I don't know how I can have the receipt already. She politely said but when you made the online order that confirmation is also a receipt. I said how was I to know that, no-one has ever told me. I said I know that it is not your fault but to have rid yourselves of giving paper receipts upon pick up it is very difficult for people like me with no phone internet. The manager went back to serving his original customer and clearly had steam coming out of his ears. It had clearly not been me that had caused his anger but had perhaps come into work like that unfortunately. With tears stinging in my eyes and being nearly 64 years old I said to the girl 'he is really pissed off at me isn't he?.. She just answered for me to have a nice rest of my day.
First off I have NEVER had this problem before, so he lied. I have mistakenly left my argos card at home and then required their kind help which only took 1 or 2 minutes of time to save a 20 mile round trip not 10 minutes that he said. Secondly, 3 times this year I have had electrical kitchen items that have gone wrong within a month. Even blowing my trip on consumer unit and had to be returned. Along with other people as per item reviews. A lawnmower upon the first day poured out black smoke and chucked out all the oil. I had another item where the seal was broken. When I got home it had filthy marks on it so I took it back. Manager 'P'' when you hold a position of authority over your staff you need to set a good example, not lie, not talk to regular , mature customers like dirt and expect to get away with it. If you have personal problems do not take it out on us please. In any business customers are gold dust. They pay your wages in a way. I hope you will be man enough to personally apologise to me. As it stands if you were employed by me you would be sacked.

I do wonder how this place survives, as I personally have never had to queue when I've picked up something I've ordered online. Still, it's always a pleasure to just walk up and ask to collect whatever I've ordered from an invariably polite and friendly assistant - I wish other shopping experiences were as trouble-free!

When it comes to buying or advice on, Smart Phones. Not much help...
On the upside very helpful & polite.

I have had an on-going issue with a refund for a sofa that did not get delivered went into the Sudbury store this Morning Hannah (argos store manager) took time to help me sort it out and hopefully thanks to her my refund is on its way

I am a frequent visitor to this store. I much prefer the service to other retailers, whenever I need anything I will check Argos first. The staff are always freindly and helpful and the service is straight forward. I highly recommend.

Purchased an Indesit dishwasher 9th July, just 11 days ago, the description of 10 places is ridiculous. It is unbelievably small and holds very little. It doesn?t even hold normal sized family dinner plates they are too big to stand up. With company I go back to washing in the sink, it?s a complete waste of time.

Went their yesterday after work, so was late on sunday close to closing time when staff are probably mentally preparing to go home. I had faulty products to bring back, I was served by Ames who was very patient & helpful, it was a very nice shopping experience thanks to her!
