Surprisingly broad range of stuff on sale. Including southwold souvenirs.

Came here to send a letter and I had to wait in a queue for 2-3 minutes (which was expected) and once I was at the front of the queue I could send my parcel! Great service!

We stayed for one night as a leg of a mini-tour of East Anglia. Without doubt this was the highlight. We had a remarkably large suite, the dinner was perfect with more than enough options for both us (one vegan) . Ditto the breakfast. Parking was straightforward and the hotel has great character and is perfectly located. Plus the extra free goodies were a lovely final touch (you'll have to go to know!)

Myself, my husband and our four year old stayed in the family suite for two nights and overall had a good stay. The room was lovely and there was plenty of space. The beer/crisps were a nice touch too. However, there were a couple of points that let the stay down overall. We were contacted the night before and were told that their ovens were not working and therefore there would only be a cold menu for the dinner we had booked. We quickly rang round other restaurants in Southwold but everywhere was booked up so we had no choice but go for the cold menu option. We had booked this trip a long time in advance and we had looked forward to it so this initially put a bit of a downer on things. Luckily, when we got there we were told that the menu was pretty much back to normal. However, the food was still disappointing. I ordered the sea bass which was tiny and was on top of a load of mange tout with no potatoes or carbs of any kind. Quite plain and uninteresting. My husband?s curry just came with poppodums and no rice. It wasn?t very filling and just a bit odd really. It was very expensive as also our son had a small portion of plain pasta with grated cheese followed by ice cream and this came to £13! For breakfast, we asked if our son could have a ?dippy? or hard boiled egg but were told that they could only do fried eggs. This wasn?t a very big request so thought this was slightly odd too. The staff were all very polite and friendly though I must add. Whilst the room was amazing, it was very noisy in the early hours from deliveries and seagulls as there was no double glazing, so we didn?t get a very restful sleep. The room was very expensive and I just felt everything was very overpriced with all things considered. We therefore unfortunately would not stay at The Crown again.

I love Southwold and have been going for years but this is the first time we have ever treated ourselves to a stay at The Crown! We stayed for 3 nights and it was so lovely to be right in the heart of Southwold. The room was AMAZING, so luxurious. We were in Room 14 which has a separate living area (which was made up into two single beds for our kids) and a little room with a loo. The main bathroom is across a corridor, but it's a very private corridor so you won't bump into anyone else and robes are provided. The bathroom is lovely, gorgeous roll top bath and a handheld shower. Breakfast was delicious, and they were able to cater for my coeliac son (gluten free toast and he had a lovely yoghurt compote too). The only thing I was unconvinced about was the (complimentary) beer flavoured crisps in the room! The complimentary beer was a lovely touch though!

Wonderful hotel in one of our favourite places. Perfect for much needed break in the sunshine. Rooms very well decorated and comfortable. Great attention to detail such as magnifying wall mirror in bathroom (essential for short-sighted people and not supplied in many hotels.) Our 'cosy' room was ideal for us but might be a little cramped for slightly larger people. The efficiency and friendliness of all the staff was first class and the ambiance and relaxed feeling of the hotel was excellent. We will definitely come back.

A lovely and friendly hotel metres from the sea but along with that, there are a hundred seagulls outside the back that start their screeching at 04:30. Brilliant breakfasts and deliciously interesting dinner menu.

Crown a really nice hotel. Although the Suzette A. Hill novels give the impression that Southwold is Suffolk?s equivalent of Midsomer Murders it is actually just an interesting and really nice place to enjoy.

We have just stayed for 4 nights at the Crown and could not find fault with anything. The staff were very efficient and friendly. The room was very clean and exceptionally comfortable and there were some goodies in our room when we arrived. The food was amazing. Breakfast was exceptional every morning. We booked into the restaurant on Thursday evening and we are so glad we did as some of the reviews on here are not accurate. The service was brilliant. The food was outstanding, very tasty and hot. We would definitely recommend and will be coming back.

Stayed 4 nights for a relaxing break. It was lovely. Strolling along promenade in the evening. Visiting shops, pubs and cafes. Visited the shop on the Pier with quirky and wonderful things. The Crown was ideally situated on High Street. Walked to Walberswick and around Southwold Harbour. Lovely pleasant town and amazing litter free streets.

Popped in as passing and a lovely, sunny Monday, which is one of the two market days and Southwold arts festival was on. It was our first visit and we were en-route to our hotel, which was a bit further out. We were walking down after getting off the bus. Very inviting. An Adnams establishment, which are always wonderful. Beautiful building inside, and out, from what we saw and experienced, early afternoon and rhen briefly later in the evening. A nice seating area at the front and back, lovely plants and flowers, fabulous staff, great choice of food, drink and prices We just had different types of nice drinks, including pots of green tea, Adnams cider and port, and some nice nuts. Lots of charm and character. Popped in the snug back bar in the evening. Really nice toilets.

On previous visits, the PO felt cramped, however they've now opened it up (to help with social distancing rules no doubt) and introduced refridgerated sandwiches and drinks for sale. The area just feels so much nicer to peruse the various toys and other bits and pieces, and now includes fewer toys but more 'homeware' items, such as table mats, t-towels, etc. The layout of the whole shop seems to flow better, and as such you don't mind spending more time perusing.Social distancing-wise, there are clear markings on the floor and walls to help you know which direction you need to follow. There are the usual screens between yourself and the tellers, and as previously mentioned, the newly available space means you can socially distance quite easily.

Good one way system for social distancing, helpful staff
