The ship is a disgrace i booked a room there for 1 night for a party of 5 and 3 of the party ended up ill including a 3 year old having to visit A&E the boots on the ground staff are Amazing the party were made to feel welcome they are above and beyond dog friendly especially as we are the proud owners of a breed of dog made a pariah these days...they were amazing...the bar is very charming the location is stunning thats were the praise ends the room rented was not fit for human habitation the bathroom was basically unusable and wouldn't have been used at all if the nearest toilet hadn't been 75yards away and outside I was constantly lied to by management every step up the ladder I climbed denied what the level below had said...I reported the issue to 2 separate mangers and got no response until I had to loose my temper....the food served in the bar looked great the compulsory food ie breakfast was 2 out of 10 at best so much so it made our dog ill. Ive been offered a poultry refund all without my consent. So much so ive been in contact with environmental health as its my duty to report the sub human conditions and my lawyers...if your thinking of booking dont its over priced, under quality and some rooms not fit for human habitation...such a shame could have been a life changing visit to a stunning location its easy to be the best hotel in Dunwich when your the only hotel

A great location, great food and good room, the only downside was the freshly painted radiator giving off fumes in the room when hot which at this time of year it needed to do. That said we did not let this deter us from what was a fantastic weekend and this great location.Rooms: Nice room with all the usual amenities you would expect.Nearby activities: Nice location as a base to visit the local areas. Nice walks and beach within easy access from the location.Food & drinks: Good menu offering great food and drink.

This looks like a lovely pub and we only stopped for a pint, but were bemused by every table having "Reserved" on them, to the extent we were leaving, before the staff asked if everything was OK. I remarked that it looked like they were fully booked only to find out this is how they "monitor how full they are". Anyway we will return for what looks like a nice place to eat.

It was so dog friendly we could actually relax and thoroughly enjoy ourselves. Staff were very attentive suggested places to walk. I would certainly go back to The Ship and would recommend it.Walkability: Very short stroll to the beach.

We were a little dubious at first because of the drab, dark, decor downstairs (all in dark blue), but the staff are very friendly and professional, our room was immaculate, and the food absolutely fantastic. The coastal location is beautiful, with none of the heavy traffic and hassle of South Coast resorts. The Beach Cafe was closed in the afternoon, as was the Museum, although there were quite a lot of visitors to the area, but that's just Suffolk!

Location is stunning and room was nice. Overall service was ok BUT this is a hotel and they close the bar at 10pm leaving you with nowhere to go but your room. When I queried this I then heard two staff members complaining about me questioning it while standing behind the bar in plain sight and earshot of the whole room ?surprised we stop serving at 10 but he doesn?t have to be here at 8am for breakfast does he?. My parents stayed there a few months ago and experienced the same thing. SHOCKING.The final straw was at 10:30 a local came in and hey presto the bar opened for him.Not cheap and claims to be a high end group so this is frankly inexcusable.Noteworthy details: Only visit if you want an early night and like being insulted by staff.

Loved this place. Set In a lovely little village just a short walk from an amazingly long beach. The fish and chips were brilliant. Bedroom was cosy and welcoming.

Sadly, we didn?t enjoy our stay. We booked a family room - Greyfriars which is classed a ?best room? however the room was very average. Unfortunately, the website description, photos and staff on the booking line failed to mention that the room was an accessible room. The bright green emergency exit light on the ceiling which was on all night and lit up the room meant it was hard to sleep. The 3 safety cords around the bathroom and room were not what we were expecting. On arrival, we were surprised that our room opened on to the car park - again not pictured or mentioned. Sadly, the room although spacious and clean, is very tired and in need of some tlc. The only picture of the bathroom is of a roll top bath which is in the bathroom but the bathroom itself is so bare and dark that it?s not somewhere you want to sit and relax. The food in the pub was good but not as good as in previous years. Breakfast was average. If you do eat here, make sure you asked to be seated in the main pub area as the conservatory is cold and tired and not as nice. Sadly we won?t be returning which is a shame as it has the potential to be a lovely place given its location next to Dunwich beach.Rooms: The family room - Greyfriars is spacious and clean but the furnishings are tired. It is an accessible room so there is a bright green emergency exit sign on the ceiling which is on all night. There are also emergency pull cords in the room and bathroom. The bathroom is very bare and dark. The door to the room opens on to the car park. None of the above was pictured, mentioned on the website or communicated when we booked.

Please see above. We?d give the ambiance, food, comfort of beds, waiting staff, five stars. Dreadful sleep for two nights, and the somewhat rude response at Checkout made it so disappointing.Rooms: Avoid Middlegate - the room is above a noisy fan or boiler which runs all night. It was referred to as ?the worst one in the place? by a member of staff.,
