We were both hungry after a long drive so decided to take a break here at the restaurant. Both eagerly awaiting our sticky sausage panini and chips. Looked very nice when it arrived but when we started eating the chips were hard in the middle and the sausages were like they'd been left on the heat for the day. Tea and service was fine but a pot of tea and two lots of chips £13? The chef took it with grace and reimbursed us the cost of the panini and gave us 2 complimentary scones.

I'd almost given up on salad; tasteless stuff. On a whim, I popped in here for some veg. Toms, baby cucumber, celery and lettuce. When I was chopping it, I thought I'd gone back to the 70s. The cucumber exploded with aroma, the Toms made my hands smell like the vine and the celery made my eyes water. It didn't even need any dressing. My tastebuds have been awakened. Not so keen on their bread though. Bit spongey. I also nipped to the antiques bit round the back and came away with 2 Slade albums.

We have visited this establishment on occasions whilst visiting Family in the area previously and were delighted with the food we were served. However our visit last Sunday 14th January 2024 at Lunchtime left our palates sunwhat lacking and underwhelmed. One asking if they catered for Vegans my Husband was advised " we do Jacket potatoes" we were seated and when our Waitress appeared I enquired if I could have the Roast dinner without the meat? I also asked the Waitress if the roast potatoes were cooked in animal fat? To both questions the slightly older Lady replied no and probably.. My Husband ordered the Pie of the day with new potatoes and vegetables, whilst could only ordered chips and baked beans after enquiring if the chips were cooked in vegetable oil. There were no desserts of any kind for myself to eat and so we paid and left. I am surprised that a Farm shop, Deli and cheese shop of this calibre does not have any food to offer Vegans or Vegetarians in this day and age. Personal hygiene seemed also to be lacking as we observed our Waitress constantly wipe her nose and not sanitise or wash her hands afterwards and continue to serve food to Customers!

Daughter and granddaughter actually went into the farm shop which has recently had a vast upgrade including a new delicatessen area which as they were looking for lunch for us all they visited! The items that were purchased were tasty and our daughter was extremely happy to find vegetarian food which hadn't been available previously. The shop was very busy as you would expect for the last trading day before Christmas. She was also impressed by the climate controlled cheese counter!!

I had a great time at The Friday Street Farm shop's taster day today, Saturday, 18th Nov.. They really pushed the boat out and the amount of food /alcohol to try was amazing. The Semster Roast potates (which were new to me), grown on the Farm, were delicious and I have bought some of the potatoes to try to replicate at home. I bought some lovely things this morning and I will go back nearer to Xmas to buy other items I tasted today. Well done Friday Street.
