Menu for raceday was appalling, although other guest in restaurant were having normal menu, when we asked about the normal menu we were told we couldn't have the normal menu even after we said that one of our group was a gluten free person, and required a gluten free menu, they were still very unhelpful and insisted we stick to raceday menu, asked to speak to the manager who refused to come our and speak to us ,inthe end we paid for our drinks and took our business elsewhere, wouldn't visit again and would certainly not recommend to anyone, other businesses in area doing things a lot better.

Booked the triple room which was clean and tidy. Room a little tired but for the price, great value.
There is self check in with a code and a car park which is small and first come basis.
It is a pub and late night bar, so it might get noisy in the lower floor rooms.

Manager is inept and unable to make a decision - we arrived as a grieving family after driving 120 miles to clear out a family members home, after a long and emotional day we arrived to the hotel to be shown 2 very basic and dull rooms.. this was the least of our problems when we later found out that the hotel had a private function on which meant we could not have a drink or dinner at the hotel, we accepted this (again) cordially and went into the town for dinner, the real issues started when we realised the private function actually meant ?extremely loud DJ music? which blared through the hotel at a rate that meant none of us could sleep until 1am.. I won?t lie, I have stayed at Ibiza rocks in my younger years and this was actually louder (and significantly worse music) however all of this to say, the real issue is with your manager who could have simply apologised and took some ownership of the situation, instead he refused to speak to us (spineless) and then when we did finally get through to him on the phone, shouted and told us to speak to the council ref noise complaints? what a wonderful management style, if I owned this establishment the first thing I?d do is replace him.

A memorable stay in a hotel with a unique history, once owned by the King of England. It?s come a long way since James I walked its halls?he wouldn?t have had the pleasure of the comfortable beds and room temperature control. Nor would he have been able to savor the delicious hotel menu or enjoy the fancy cocktails. He would certainly be proud that it?s now in the hands of Manager Ruth and her team, who make your stay exceptional with their warm welcomes and constant attention to detail.
Overall, it's a 10 out of 10 from me for this wonderful hotel in a beautiful and fascinating part of the country.
Food and drinks: During my stay I pretty much completed the menu. Couldn't fault any of the dishes. Delicious. The drinks menu is brilliant aswell good beers and even better cocktails ?

This is a prime location in Newmarket with all the shops within a close walking distance. (Starbucks yay!) The rooms have air-conditioning and are spider-free which make a HUGE difference if you're American! The food at their restaurant is also amazing.
Ruth, at the front, went above and beyond for us to make sure we could have Netflix on our tv and be as comfortable as possible during our stay. She provides some of the best service we've ever had in England, and she truly cares about your comfort. She is the main reason we will stay here again on our next visit.
Loved that you can also walk down and see the Newmarket horses run in the mornings. That is a nice treat!

Kings is an amazing cozy hotel/bar.
The staff are amazing and make you feel at home. Ruth, Angie, Eranda, and Lawrence each made me feel like the only guest they had. All wonderful people.
My room was cozy and comfortable, very clean. The building and grounds have an amazing history if your interested in that sort of thing. The horse racing industry thrives nearby and this can be seen all around.
Situated in the middle of the High street, access to everything is simple, just a moments walk in any direction.
I was staying for work, but the staff and atmosphere made me feel like I was on holiday everyday after work.
It's a place you must experience for yourself.
Rooms: Cozy and clean
Nearby activities: Shuttle runs to race track on race days.
Horse racing museum is very nearby.
Walkability: Many pubs, cafes, and resturaunts are with in a short walking distance, shopping is nearby as well.
Food and drinks: Great food, well portioned and prepared. Wonderfully presented.
Outstanding drinks!!! Have the Dirty Bathwater and get the rubber ducky! ?

Popped out for a cheeky Friday night meal and drink. Thought let's go to Kings, it's been a while. Have to say pleasantly surprised, food once we received it was delicious. House DJ playing some smooth beats, all in all a good night. We'll be back as Andrew the resident DJ has a big birthday in July. See ya then A
