How hilarious that it calls itself family friendly ? I decided to stop off on the drive home with my very well behaved children who was literally sitting there silently and got completely ignored by the host, sat down anyway thinking maybe they was bringing the menus over. Didn't come. I went up to the bar and asked for some menus and he told us they was too busy to serve us and was booked up! (there was two other tables ?) it was obviously they thought they was too posh to have children in there! Clearly they have forgotten they are a dingy dark old pub on the side of a motorway and think they are a cut above and way too posh to have the likes of children in there because they've got a few nice flowers out the front. ? avoid!

An impressive meal with impeccable service. The grilled goats cheese was amazing - the range of flavours incredible. Salmon (main) and sea bass (main) perfect. We rarely have deserts but succumbed to the temptation of plum crumble and custard and chocolate fudge cake. Highly recommend and the flowers outside are gorgeous. Thank you so much for a lovely evening.

?Had a brilliant meal here ? the food was absolutely delicious and full of flavour. Everything was fresh, well presented, and cooked perfectly. The service was friendly and welcoming which made the whole experience even better. I even enjoyed waiting in the holding area before being seated ? it was surprisingly interesting, with a great atmosphere and some fascinating people around. Definitely one of the best meals I?ve had in a while and I?d highly recommend it.?

The food was incredible and reasonably priced. Lovely, friendly staff! Just one suggestion?I little background music would be nice as you felt everyone could hear your conversation. Would go again and highly recommended!

The landlord David was very welcoming and Olga?s food was very tasty. We would certainly recommend this as a place for a meal or a few drinks.

Just had a wonderful evening meal at The Highwayman. So much choice on the menu it was hard to choose. The food was freshly prepared and utterly delicious. Good options for vegetarians, fish lovers and meat eaters! The service was excellent and attentive. To quote Arnie?.we?ll be back! Oh, and my dog enjoyed it too (in the bar area). Would definitely recommend.

We were on a long road trip and happened upon this place so decided to pop in for a quick bite and rest. Immediately we were greeted by David, who made us feel very welcome and was wonderfully friendly. The service was impeccable. I ordered the pie and have to say it was perfectly balanced in every way. A lovely experience in a lovely pub.
Would highly recommend stopping here if you are nearby at any point.

My second visit and am very impressed. Host very friendly and personable. Good variety of dishes and caters for vegetarians and smaller palates. Food was excellent!! Service also excellent. A real hidden gem of a place. Beautiful building and view out to lovely gardens. Plenty of parking. Would highly recommend.

The place from the outside looks ok but the inside has a nice old country vibe the food was great the chicken tikka curry was really spicy but flavourful but the waiting time was long! It was 40 minutes for the starters and half an hour for the mains but overall it was ok. But we didn't go for breakfast (as it is more know for breakfast) as we went for dinner

Dog friendly - they asked if the dogs could have a treat and brought a plate of meat out for our three dogs.
The food is excellent for humans, too, and the service is top-notch. Everyone is just so friendly. I'm a vegetarian and there were enough options to please even my fussy palette.
Overall, this is a fantastic place, a real must see. It's just a shame we stopped on the way to our holiday and aren't a local otherwise we would be a regular.

Our recent visit to The Highwayman Pub & Restaurant was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel immediately welcome.
One of the highlights of our visit was how accommodating they were to our oldest son?s dairy allergy. They ensured his meal was safe without compromising on taste, which we greatly appreciated as parents. My wife and I both had the Rib of Beef Roast Dinner, which was absolutely delicious and of excellent quality. Our two boys (aged 2 and 5) enjoyed their spaghetti bolognese immensely?seeing their happy faces was a testament to how much they loved their meals!
The staff were not only professional but also warm and personable, engaging in friendly conversation with us throughout our meal. A special shoutout goes to the staff member who noticed our youngest struggling with his cutlery and, without us asking, brought him a child-friendly fork and spoon. It?s the small, thoughtful gestures like these that make a dining experience truly memorable.
Another detail we noticed was the cleanliness and quality of the high chair provided, which is often overlooked in many establishments. It?s a minor thing, but it really stood out to us.
The atmosphere in the pub was cozy and peaceful, creating the perfect environment for a relaxing family meal. The waiting staff struck the ideal balance of being attentive?checking in often to see if we needed anything?without being intrusive.
Overall, the combination of great food, a welcoming environment, and exceptional service made our visit a fantastic experience. We were especially grateful for the extra attention given to our children, which made the meal enjoyable for everyone. We highly recommend The Highwayman Pub & Restaurant and will definitely be returning!
