“I never fail to be amazed and appalled at the sense of entitlement that others seem to exhibit and their unending capacity to blame the wrong people.Yes, the NHS isn't in great shape, without writing some form of dissertation it would be impossible to layout even a barebones explanation here. The Surgery was short staffed for a long time with the retirement of a couple of doctors, and, like all small town surgeries, they struggled to attract and retain GP's. This has started to change with the appointment of two new doctors. Yes, the receptionists guard the doctors time like tenacious bulldogs, that's their job. Your GP will easily see in excess off 100 patients today, therefore they have to be extremely guarded with their time. This is unfortunate for us patients, but is a common theme amongst every practice. I agree the website isn't particularly intuitive or well laid out and it is very frustrating when certain services aren't available upon it, but surely people can understand that a request for medical help needs to be reviewed by a clinician and if there aren't any available it makes no sense at all to allow them to pile up?The staff are, without a doubt, some of the best you can see in town. You get the sense they see you as an individual and not a collection of medical maladies, referrals are made swiftly and often the sticking point is at the hospital (example; Dr. Lockyer referred me to a surgeon in September 2022, the hospital acknowledged receipt of referral. I'm still waiting in February 2023).The nurses, who I am having to see daily for dressing changes and wound care, are a credit to their profession, they are kind, considerate and make you feel completely at ease. No surgery is perfect, and High Street Surgery is no exception, but I would rate them an order of magnitude higher than the next best offering in town.”
