Wonderful visit to Melford Hall! What did I like?
1) Huge open parkland grounds of 140 acres where I had a great walk with my dog
2) Its an imposing house but (just) small enough that you can relate to it and imagine families living there in the past
3) Super friendly team that very kindly helped me park in the shade and offered to keep an eye on my dog (in the car) while I zipped around the house in 20 minutes. Much appreciated, thank you!
4) The town of Long Melford is pretty and offers various refershment options.
All in all highly recommended.

A love the scale of this place, it feels so intimate. There are some very sweet touches, like baskets of games for children, all around the grounds. Badminton and huge draughts game set up on the front lawn. We'll be back!

Great day out with the family with some great weather. The gardens are not too big and have family games or enjoy with little once. Nice cafe with scones. There are national trust tours revealing some interesting stories about the house and the estate.

The Hyde-Parker's still live in one of the wings and it feels like a 'family' home.
We had a lovely chat with Lady Emily

Such an interesting place to visit, far exceeding my expectations. Was very well staffed with knowledgeable volunteers who were very approachable and provided a much deeper understanding of the history than normally available in places I?ve visited. From the stories of Beatrix Potter who used to visit to the descriptions of the admirals who owned the house in the past we came away feeling we?d really experienced some of the house?s history. All this was topped off with a handful of delicious mulberries from the ancient tree in the garden! Well worth the visit.

Interesting history, and a great talk, loved the Potter memorabilia. The parkland walks were limited and a bit dull.

Beautiful old Manor house. It was really interesting to discover Beatrix Potters links with the family.

The Estate is not huge, but managed not as 'the chain', but in its own style. Lovely café, with plenty of room in the original house (not the extension), with a very good choice of food. The house is filled with history . First founded in the beginning of the 17th century, it was accommodating Elizabeth 1. Refurbished in the 18th century.
