We met friends in the pub restaurant as its half way between where both our families live. The pub it's self is an old English pub which is reflected in the age of the building and furniture.
The staff were both friendly and helpful and the food well cooked and plentiful with a menu that has something for everyone. There is adequate, easily entered parking. Well worth a visit.

Been twice now when down visiting my Dad in Bury St Edmunds. Both visits were faultless. No wonder it was so busy on a Thursday night. Dog friendly as well(would book).

Looking for somewhere to have an evening meal with some of my old friends. We take it in turns to do this but It's not that as easy as it sounds. I remembered the Hare from a long time ago. It was handy for lunch after concerts in the church. Though we would have lunch there to see how it is now. Lun was excellent with range of smaller portions if required and Paninis of various choices + sides as well I. took the opportunity discuss a table for 8 of us bearing in mind it is not easy to get all together. I do prefer talk to people and quick phone call all was arranged. We were shown to our table and served our drinks. We were given the menus, not rushed to order. The menu was quite extensive and suited everyoarne even gluten free as one of our party is very fussy about this. We all enjoyed our meals from starter to Finnish. Have a look on their website for menu or just call in ,as we did. Thanks for great service and food. Oh the beer was good

Had a fantastic lunch at the pub restaurant today. Loved the ambience. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I had the mushroom wellington and my husband had the mackerel. Both delicious and pipping hot, not lukewarm or warm like most places!

Another great time on Saturday 5th and the Hare was the first pub/restaurant we visited when we moved into the area in 2023 and it's one of our go-to places whether it's for a 'date' night, family gathering or Sunday lunch. Always a great experience, the ambience, service and food - highly recommended and look forward to returning soon.

At the top of Long Melford High Street, the pub has a large garden with plenty of tables and very importantly, plenty that are in the shade.
A good pub menu, served by pleasant staff and serving good beers. What's not to like?
