Fascinating place! We had vegan cake upstairs (lemon/lime drizzle and coffee/date/walnut) and then bought some handmade sweets, fudge and Turkish delight to take away. Really interesting food, made in house. Lots of unique flavours and quirkiness, with a clear passion for good ingredients and an experimental streak. Will return for a full lunch next time!

We had a cream tea. Scone was homemade and delicious. Was warmed in the microwave for a little bit too long. I would have preferred a little more butter and clotted cream but it was very nice.

Absolutely agree Ross about the icecream.All homemade?
The Soft squirty vanilla another lady had looked a very odd colour.as if all the pipes need cleaning out.The icecream was tasteless and had a crystal effect that suggested a defrost and refreeze.The whole freezer looked in need of a clean and defrost.Not good enough.

Avoid the ice creams!
I rarely make reviews and don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, however 3/3 ice creams tried today were unfortunately terrible. A long list of unexpected flavours drew us in from the street and I wished I had checked the reviews first.
Trying to be generous, the apricot and rhubarb flavours could best be described as edible. The elderflower was tasteless except for an odd hint of tree bark. All ice creams had a weird gummy texture with ice crystals on the inside of the ice cream itself (not freezer burn). Prices were average but they are absolutely not worth it. Please do yourself a favour and give the ice creams a miss.
On a more positive note, the staff were friendly, the aesthetic of the shop is nice and it smells like an old fashioned sweet shop when entering.

Lovely quirky place. We enjoyed our food and the atmosphere, coffee wasn't great.
I was looking forward to trying the ice cream as they make it themselves, unfortunately it lacked flavour and tasted watery with bits of ice in it. I understand it's a lot more natural than what you get elsewhere but it just wasn't nice.
The place is worth a visit and I would recommend it, just not the ice cream.

Delightful little tea room upstairs where we had tea. Absolutely amazing scones - I think we'll have to be back just for those. Really reasonable prices. Owner was a super friendly and interesting guy. Enjoyed talking about his Land Rover 101 FC based off the photos in the cafe.

Paul and hannah are lovely people very welcoming and passionate about the food they provide. It's a beautiful shop and cafe upstairs. Full of homemade sweets and cakes. The menu upstairs is out of this world with a great selection of foods for all tastes and preferences. Vegan and vegetarian food available. I had the homemade burger which was fantastic and my wife had the fish soup all great. Fresh and homemade food at a reasonable price. Freindly and great food highly recommend ? ?

Same experience today as previous negative reviews below, in relation to service, fudge, tablet and Turkish delight. Looks nice but tablet and fudge both sugary and gritty. The Turkish delight was hard and flavourless. This is not only a costly but disappointing venture especially when I so wanted to support a small business. Thank heavens the rest of Lavenham is lovely.

The worst ice cream we?ve had! Both flavours we tried were pure ice crystals with no flavour. Not only that, the man who served us handled our cones with filthy finger nails- very off-putting. We had a taste and put them straight in the bin.

Surprised by some of the poor reviews on here; I can only assume they?re used to chemical-filled junk food/ice cream. This is REAL food with REAL ingredients. Made by nature not a laboratory. Absolutely delicious.

Try the fudge before you buy it - we bought chocolate fudge and it was like sand. Wonder if an ingredient was left out by mistake? Had a selection of chocs, some better than others.
