Avoid this hotel at all costs! I booked a room to rest after a long drive, but the highway right outside my room made sleep impossible. I couldn't even get an hour of rest. To make matters worse, the reception didn't help with a room change, and when I asked for earplugs, they said they weren't available. Terrible experience, wouldn't recommend.

Good travelodge. Clean and tidy, staff friendly and helpful. An older travelodge as they still have a proper key and a bath tub. Free carpark. Only downside is you can hear the slight rumble of the A12. Easy to find south bound,stay on A12 and turn off at service station (Starbucks). North bound , turn off just past the petrol stations that are opposite each other. Then go under A12 then on to A12 south bound. Good place for overnight stay. Would use again.

Handy placement but the oddest car parking layout. The floors of the hotel are broken and they often feel like you are going to fall through. Even the bathroom floor in room 15 had dips in it.

The Travelodge itself is great, exactly what you pay for and the staff we encountered at our stay were really polite. Very helpful when it came to questions and every time we needed something resupplied it was there by the time we came back from our days out.
The only real problem is the location. Although it is near a busy a road, which we didn't hear much from, the car park surrounding the Travelodge has very harsh and frequent potholes. If your vehicle is low or has low profile tyres you'll definitely want to avoid travelling in it.

1st visit,Room clean, bed comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. Really need to clean up the car park, or at least unblock drains and light it!
2nd visit, little change, good location for Colchester and Ipswich.
Accessible room smelt damp and huge amount of noise from A12. Curtain rail broken. Accessible bathroom had shower over bath and in fact, not accessible!
No shops within walking distance unless you are there when Starbucks are open.
