We ate at The George early (7/7/25) and enjoyed our meal overall, although the food was not as good as on previous visits. Our main observation was that, at anynone time, there appeared to be only one member of staff serving both the pub and the dinning area, including taking orders and serving meals. Although she was doing her best, this did have an effect on the level of service.

Didn't get to try The George and won't be going back. States online that food is served up until 8pm so why were we turned away at 7.45pm? Clearly the info needs updating to stop other potential customers going away disappointed. If it stated last food orders 7.30pm (for example) then there would have been no issue and no wasted journey.

The food was very basic and bland and the steak was chewy, not very good quality of food.

Beware. Booking system allows tables to be booked at times when the kitchen is closed (Sunday evening particularly)
Didn?t have the opportunity to eat here as a result.
Staff seemed to be on a mission to have an empty pub - couldn?t really be bothered to help.
Luckily, pub up the road came to the rescue

Visited with my elderly dad at a fairly quiet time and yet still had quite a wait to be served at the bar and for food to come, so much so we were on the point of leaving when meals arrived. My dad wanted another drink but the queue at the bar was long with only one person serving so we gave up. I told an older lady who was clearing our table that we couldn't have another drink as wait was too long. She didn't make any comment whatsoever. Will not be going there again!

Food was terrible, we had to chase up the food as it took over an hour for two steak sandwiches, over cooked chips, onion rings and mac &cheese. We were missing the garlic beard and the server was very rude when we pointed out he turned around and laughed, he needs more training in customer service. We weren?t offered anything not even the garlic beard which we paid for

I had the signature burger and was pleasantly surprised with the portion size you get your moneys worth, the food and service was amazing!! Great vibe and the desert was the cherry on the top would definitely come again

First visit here for quite some time. Very extensive menu, with wide range of different dishes at very reasonable prices. I had the creamy garlic mushroom linguine, with the optional chicken and bacon (10/10), and my wife had the beef and ale pie (8/10). But all in all, very impressed and will definitely come back again. Tuesday night, so fairly quiet, and no issues with getting a table.

Since this place has changed owners it has been my favourite place to go for food and a drink in Hadleigh. Definitely worth popping in if you haven't been for a while.
