Thanks to Google we found out this pub was open on a Monday. Visited for lunch in the middle of our East Bergholt/ John Constable walk. A massive garden, and traditional food set us up for our return walk.

A traditional country pub. Don't expect fancy food, but do expect friendly service and lots of outdoor space with plenty of seating options.
Kids portions of food were really generous and good value.

This is a small village pub that oozes atmosphere it's a hit with the locals who make my husband and I feel welcome each time we have visited us. There is an open fire for the cosy feel in winter the old building fills you with a sense of history which makes me feel it has many stories to tell. Through another door is a room for the sports fans with TVs showing sports and a pool table for those who like a game. The staff were welcoming but not imposing leaving us free to enjoy our time there. We have decided to visit more often

5 stars for being the only pub in a wide area that is actually open on a Monday evening ?- Timothy Taylor 'Landlord' and Adnams ales kept really well. Watched footie and also pool competition. Nice place and worth a visit.
