Re-opened not long ago. Looks beautiful inside with the bonus of a beautiful garden too! Kindly accommodated us at short notice for one night in their double room. Room was lovely; spotless, comfy/clean bed, plenty of towels provided and a generous amount of tea/coffee etc. Very relaxed morning as a good amount of time given to depart, which makes such a difference. Thank you, we will be back soon!

Met the new landlord today after ?booking? a table via existing website. Very nice chap and we wish them well in getting the place up and running again. Unfortunately they don't yet have control of website yet so BE AWARE. Probably best to phone to check/confirm any booking.
Should be an ideal pub. Good luck!

A love place.
We are a team of 3 builders and used to book rooms with Paul several times in 2024 .
We did hear people talking about ex landlord before him and the staff that were not to happy about Paul runing the business and they simply ruined the business. Local people told us that rumors are true and indeed Paul was not really wanted in that place unfortunately?
Social media has a big impact but one thing i have to mention and that is Paul is the best host i have ever met.

Do not use this website to book to dine or stay as it is not associated with the current landlords.
The Golden Boar has been closed for several months but will be reopening soon under new management.

we did not know it had closed down a reserved a table through the web site which has no information saying it has closes and our booking for a table was confirmed.only to turn up to find the premises closed and a letter from bailiffs on the door!

Please, avoid this place! We booked 3 rooms from 1.12.2024 to 4.12.2024 through booking.com.
Later we got a call from the Landlord of The Golden Boar, that due to some misunderstanding they are cancelling all bookings on booking.com and we need to book directly through The Golden Boar. He immediately sent us all information and invoice to our email. With the proviso that the booking.com reservation is no longer valid.
After sending the payment he never sent us a confirmation of the booking, and the communication was very poor.
When we managed to contact him (we tried phone calls, emails, messages), he made excuses for various problems and finally closed everything by saying that he would not be able to accommodate us at all.
And on 28 November replied, that he is refunding the full amount to our account (£700).
But that never happened!
We have been treated in a totally unacceptable way.

Because it has closed down BUT can?t be bothered to tell any potential customers , no sign in door & website still letting you book & sending out reminders!
Phone number no answer ever & voice mail full (of complaints probably) honestly don?t waste yr time.
Try Jude?s Ferry instead 1.5miles away, great service & food & actually open & customer friendly!

Visited for a last minute lunch on a Saturday
Food arrived in good time, very tasty and filling.

Lovely little place to stay for a night or two,
Check in was a little confusing for staff.
Bathrooms could do with a bit of tlc and stairs carpet could do with a clean.
Checked out in the morning and on the landing there was an empty elf bar box and packet (vape) and could smell the vape cleaners were in and about and very friendly but left box on the floor.
Also could hear the music downstairs word for word till about 12:30am.
I never leave a silly review and never picky, just an honest one.

Was only here for a meal, they are so slow , meals OK but £7.00 for a chocolate sunday which was in a small glass 2 scoops of ice cream and a bit of chocolate sauce, would not recommend this place.

I think the day we were there, it was in transition so there wasn't any draught beer and the food was average.
Hope this was just a blip in the situation
