Booked lunch for a relatives birthday. Approaching the building, everything looked very nice. Inside, a warm welcome and a nice drink in front of an open fire. All very nice. I'm afraid lunch was very disappointing. The beef was inedible, very tough and undercooked, and the roast potatoes were very sad. The manager was very apologetic and gave us a discount. Maybe it was just that day, but it was for a birthday.

A really lovely hotel with period style, we enjoyed our stay and will certainly return in the warmer weather.Rooms: This is an old building, very atmospheric and not very level! It felt like I was in the 1890's. We loved it !

Having been able to book a table for six at the beginning of November, we were very much looking forward to having our Christmas Day meal at Ravenwood. Upon arrival we were greeted courteously and shown to our table. The staff were indeed friendly and polite throughout, despite lacking in numbers. The meal itself was woeful. The leak soup starter was not quite lukewarm and tasteless. The main was more comparable with a meal served in hospital: some of the veg was undercooked, some overcooked and some hadn?t been cleaned properly and contained grit. The gravy had zero flavour and meat was underwhelming. I am genuinely struggling to recall ever having had a meal quite that poor. Dessert was passable ? just.As mentioned, the service team was short-staffed so used plates and cutlery stayed on the table for an age. No-one came to take re-orders of drinks.I?ve previously attended weddings and other functions here, so I assumed it would be a safe bet for Christmas. It?s a nice location and the pavilion had been festively decorated. All in all though, it was a terrible disappointment and a complete waste of money. I am actually flabbergasted at quite how dismal it was.Food & drinks: Dreadful

Amended: After service from management team has been very good. Thank you for your prompt reply and taking on board our frustrations on the day.Came for Christmas Dinner, actually still eating it writing this review - that's how bad this place is today.Tiny main course, under cooked had to ask for parsnips, tiny speck of stuffing, rock hard turkey... etc etc etcChristmas Pudding tasted like an old car tyre - my daughters apple pie was nice apparently. One of the staff looked like he had been slapped with wet haddock. For £100 a head it was a HUGE disappointment (been here for many meals before and they were good)- no wonder they wanted the money up front!

My father booked 3 of us for Christmas Day lunch on the basis of liking the new owner's other hotel. Unfortunately, the meal was very small portions and poor quality especially for the top end price charged (£150 each , drinks extra). The soup had large lumps of fat and rind in rather than lardons, but was otherwise ok. The Gravlax dressing was very tart. The main was terrible. A small plate and it was hardly full. Small bits of turkey, one small bit of stuffing, one small pig in a blanket, no gravy as such, hardly any veg (4 tiny sprouts, 2 small chantenay carrots and 3 half roast potatoes). I know that top end restaurants often serve small portions but they should be well presented and of high quality but the standard of this meal was more comparable to school dinner. The parsnips were missing and when I asked for them I received a plate of half raw parsnips. Talking to other guests they had the same parsnip experience. The pudding was ok but small. It was not clear if coffee was included as it was not listed on the menu. We decided to leave straight away.As we left several other guests were complaining along similar lines to us. I gather from speaking to the manager that there had been some sort of problem in the kitchen. This was very clear to us already. I know that mass catering is not easy but they seem to manage well other times judging by the good reviews. The waiting staff were doing their best and I do not blame them but it was all very poor. The meal had been paid for in advance and there was no offer of compensation and my father was too polite to make a fuss.

We were dreaming of the English charm when we headed to Ravenwood Hall, we were not disappointed. Originally, we were taken back by the state of the property, but eventually our souls were charmed by Simon, Daisy & the resident Turkish master?. Thank you for making us believe in humanity. We will meet again, I don?t how?

Sunday Carvery with SantaOne of the most disappointing, embarrassing experiences I have had eating out. Terrible food, terrible service and the most shabby Santa I have encountered.Full review available on trip advisor - where many others have said the same about most of the festive events at Ravenwood Hall (plenty to choose from!)

A very quaint historic hotel, which some will love and others may not. We did love it. The staff and service were excellent, as was the food.Rooms: Historic with wonky floors and a four poster bed, all part of the charm.Food & drinks: Food was excellent.

Have had better afternoon teas and won?t be coming again. I expected great service and great food from a hotel renown for being rather expensive. The grounds are beautiful and the approach to the hotel is very romantic and posh for an afternoon treat for my grandma and aunties. Service just wasn?t up to standard, staff were friendly when approached but I just felt like we were in the way.

This tucked away location is absolutely lovely. It has an outdoor heated pool, is quite small and very quaint! The food and service is second to none one of the very best I have received. We were served by a man called Sammi one evening and a man called Paulo and both of them were attentive, charming, funny and engaging - they help make this experience even better. The grounds are lovely, sitting outside in the swinging chair under the most enormous magical tree is lovely. Whilst having a drink in the garden we saw a herd of deer and squirrels. Later in the evening a badger! This place is amazing.

we had some room booking issues but in the end couldn't complain as they were resolved without complaint by the various staff members who went out of their way to help. We would go there back without hesitation.
