My wife took her mazda car to have a service and mot on Friday Feb 16th at the Bury St Edmunds garage. Collected the car on the Saturday. Whilst driving home along the A14 she heard a loud flapping noise from underneath the car. She put her hazard warning lights on and slowed down to 30mph, and drove home, and was very worried and reluctant to drive back to the garage on the A14. The AA breakdown were called and examined the car. His findings were that the sump flap, which would have been accessed to change the oil, had not been fixed back properly, therefore had fallen down on the journey home, causing parts breaking away as it flapped against the road surface. He took photos of the damaged flap, and produced a report of his findings. My wife phoned the garage on Saturday 17th, spoke to Matt, to explain what had happened, and was told an investigation would need to be held, and to email the AA report and photos. An email was sent and returned as undeliverable. The report, photos and a covering letter were then hand delivered on Sunday 18th, through the letterbox at the garage. To date there has been no response from the garage. My wife emailed Halfords head office on Feb 22nd, with the report, photos and letter, and as yet there has been no reply from them either. I have contacted Mazda main dealer who inform me that it will cost approximately £100 +VAT to supply and fit a new sump flap.

Joined the club they have and got the fee back when I had my MOT done. The only issue is the accessibility. Getting in isn?t SO bad, but getting out is a bit of a production. Staff were nice and helpful.

Not impressed with this Autocentre. Will never go again. From the 21st December to the 11th Jan my car has been off the road due to a failed MOT. Could not get my car repaired due to constant staff sickness and excuses. When I asked about advisories was told non only to receive an email with a list including an indicator light was not working after leaving.Pretty poor in my opinion.

Great honest garage. Took my Volvo S40 here to flush the DPF filter and Mark (one of mechanics) found it was a problem with a hose, he replaced it and saved me £££s!I will be using this as my local garage from now on and will take my other cars here.Thank you team and Mark for your great work and customer service !!Service: General repairs & maintenance

The service is okay but if they tell you 60 mins , probably you have to wait 120 mins! Other shops give you more swift service.

Great service, really helpful and fitted me in at short notice. They are a bit limited on space from a parking perspective but they manage it well. Close to the town centre so you can go for a walk around the old Abby or easy to find a nice coffee while you wait.

Awful ?I just came back today 15.08.22 from Halford Autocenter Bury St Edmunds. I had a shocking experience with their MOT service. I was asked to change the left rear tyre which I agreed to change and left the car with them. When I was asked to collect what I found out is such a shock view that there were a lot of scratches over wheel surface especially around the rim. I just literally bought the car a month ago and I haven?t driven that much. And I was so convinced that there were no such scratches before. Moreover, there are white scratches at the driver?s door and door handle. I was so upset and also frustrated that my new car was totally ruined by Halford team led by Keith Baylis ( manager). They never admitted that it was their fault and replied in very rude ways. They just gave me a phone number to reach out for( which also not picking up). When I asked email , Keith said there is no email to escalate to. (That?s what I have got the reply from manager). It?s my very first MOT experience in UK and I was totally shocked because as they handled roughly and recklessly to other?s car and never admit or unprofessional with their fault and even rude to customers .And the tyre itself seems old tyre (can see in the picture) , my original ones are a lot more better than it is. I paid 73£ for one tyre and left sadly without a word of sorry or apology but just unprofessional manners. If for the next time, I won?t never go there again and won?t recommend others. I was shocked with the terrible attitude of mechanics and the managers , they lied and forced to change my original tyre with old tyre (supposed to be new one) which cost 73£ and ruined the parts of the car and treated horribly. If there is -200/-300 in the review, I would choose those .EditedJust received a reply email for the complaint that I made on the website.totally useless and irresponsible reply.? I would however strongly suggest you contacting the autocentre/store back as they would be the ones who need to address the issue with you and investigate ?

Took my car for an MOT as I was unable to book it into my usual garage So I took it to Halfords auto centre. The car failed on 5 major faults and 9 advisory to which the total came to £980 to fix and they couldn't do all the work to get a MOT certificate, no welding needed doing etc. Also one of the faults was and I quote "the side indicators are not white but not orangey enough" according to the MOT tester. As expected I wasn't going to pay that price to get it through and thought that they were trying to con me.I took it down to my local garage and I explained that I took the car to Halfords auto centre and they managed to squeeze that car in after the 10 days had expired to conduct a fresh MOT.This time it failed on 4 major faults and it had 4 advisories and the faults came to a total of £406 and that was including the cost of the MOT and I pre paid for the MOT at Halfords online. Whereas Halfords couldn't do all the faults to get it through the MOT, my local garage did without any problem at all.If you're car needs an MOT or any repair work then I would steer well clear of Halfords auto centre and if you live in Bury St Edmunds I would go to C D Friend, a brilliant local independent garage that won't rip the cash from your wallet like daylight robbery!!!

Took car for MOT that resulted in a repair being required. I have an old car so it was tricky to do as bolts welded with age. I was given a price and that?s what I paid even though it took so much longer.Great service and friendly, helpful staff. Definitely recommendService: General repairs
