We had a lovely breakfast today Sunday 10/8 with ours friends we very kindly won a voucher at my granddaughters Nayland Primary School raffle, although we had eaten there before so knew it was nice. A first trip for our friends who throughly enjoyed it so we plan to go back in a couple of weeks with a few more guests. A lovely young lady on the till who took our order and payment i didn?t see her name but was a lovely young girl, gave our dog a treat ????If i could make one small suggestion perhaps don?t put the butter on the warm plates it was liquid by the time it was to be spread not a complaint just a note. Thanks again for donating the voucher it was very much appreciated ?

Friendly staff and very helpful. Lovely food with quick service. Took my friend for her first visit and she was pleased also. We didn't feel rushed to leave and we were able to take our time.

Popped in for a quick takeaway coffee. Wasn't busy, and was served quickly. Nice looking building. Can't comment on the food as didn't eat. But the flat white milk was overheated and burnt. Swapped for an espresso and they didn't have any espresso cups for takeaway.
Don't mean to disparage the server, but if they don't really like coffee, they shouldn't be in charge of the coffee machine. That's the feeling I got from the barrista. Shame. May be back to try again. Maybe not.

Took my dog for a walk in Arger Fen woods, just up the road as it was a hot day, woods are cooler. On the way there I notice Assington Barn Café with a roasts sign outside. Checked if was dog friendly (it is) thought to hot to cook, called in. Happy to say food was excellent, best I've had for a long time. Little bit of a wait, but was warned of this as busy, so worth the wait. Will be getting busier as so good, will definitely be back.

As regular customers of Assington Barn before the change of owners, we are very sad to experience the sterile, just a cafe feel of it now! Whilst waiting for our Lattes and toast, the sticky table and constant flies were very off putting. After, twenty minutes our weak coffees appeared, along with the barely toasted supermarket style thin toast. Nothing, is like before, food was tasty, tables were clean and staff were experienced and friendly...Not a place we'd frequent again.

We were really looking forward to the newly reopened Barn.
The menu was very basic with ham egg and chips, baked potatoes and sandwiches making up majority of the menu. It was only on paying that we discovered a specials board against the woodburner. No one had informed us? Service was slow but there were only two waitresses. No one enquired if the meal was ok, there wasn?t enough cutlery/ napkins in the bucket.
No alcohol licence ( yet).
Tinny jazz played above us which was intrusive and it generally lacked atmosphere.
