We had a lovely dinner there recently. The lamb rump was tender and perfectly cooked. All three of us had the sticky toffee pudding dessert, and we practically licked the plates clean. Service was friendly and attentive too.
Unlike so many places in London, there is no loud music playing in the background, so it's a perfect place for a relaxing and informal dinner and drinks.

Large country Pub/Restaurant with a decent array of local ales and reasonably priced menu of good quality food , the staff were obviously very busy when I was there but were still very friendly and accomadating .

Chloe and her team were fantastic last night as we optimistically walked in hoping for a table having not thought to book. She really looked after us despite it being rammed as it was the Black Shuck and with such warmth. The food was good, arrived quickly and the service was wonderful.

Meal with my daughter-she chose the special and thoroughly enjoyed it.i had a chicken dish- meat had obviously been cooked some time before and was very dry and bland. Potatoes also very old with no crisp and no flavour. Very disappointed with my mediocre food

Went for a drink on a Sunday and thee place was heaving with diners (Sunday lunch is popular), so returned mid week.
Excellent menu with a good deal of variery and large portions. Childrens menu was great and more than happy to accommodate changes as my daughter didnt want an egg with her delucious ham.
Asult portions were generous - delicious scallops with bacon, an nduja scotch egg and beef short rib.
Service polite, attentive and very welcoming. Highly recommend.

We popped in for a drink one afternoon as we were staying locally on our family holiday, we had a good chat with the manager and he talked us through the menu as our daughter has allergies. We came back the following day for dinner and we could not have asked for more, the service was exceptional from the friendly staff and the food was amazing! Would highly recommend and we will be returning on our next visit.

Lively little pub with some unusual dishes

Myself and partner visited tonight after I was recommended by the Airbnb and a couple of locals from another public house we visited that didn't do food.I had the steak with the peppercorn sauce and my partner had the fish n chips with warm baguette as she doesn't like peas.My peppercorn sauce had no consistency was like water,they brought a replacement which frankly was no better.My partners chips weren't really chips but half a plate of crispy bits,the fish had bones which was mentioned and it was pointed out it was in the very small print at the bottom of the menu.I believe this should have been mentioned below the actual dish.The butter for the baguette was so hard it wouldn't spread so some more was brought out but we can only assume it was put n a microwave as it was melted on the surface but still hard beneath.Our bill was discounted by no charge for the peppercorn sauce and not charged fo the fish n chips but this wasn't what we wanted or why we complaned,we was in fact hungry but sadly disappointed and told they'd never had any complaints before and perhaps it was down to individual taste,the reviews say different. I would like too add beer was a very nice pint and the some of the staff are very nice young girls that wait on tables maybe higher managerment could learn a thing or two from these girls
