Really bizarre experience in here yesterday felt compared to share the encounterI dropped in to donate a couple of bags of kids toys and clothes. The woman who I spoke to asked me if I was a registered Sue Ryder donor and I said I wasn't. She asked if I had a minute to sign up, and I told her I didn't - I was in a rush and had the kids in the car outside. She was very taken aback by this and said 'find drop and go then I suppose'. Then as I walked out she said 'we will get 25% less money for charity now, because you can't spare 1 minute to sign up.'I understand the whole gift aid system and all that, and obviously ideally a donor would jump through the necessary hoops to maximise the impact of their donation, but at the same time that's my decision and I resent being made to feel guilty that my good deed was not good enough. In the end I took my donation back and donated it a few doors down at another charity shop.So the donation, though only a couple of bags of kids stuff, ended up being 100% less valuable to Sue Ryder because of a rude lady. The end
